1952 Helsinki Olympic Heavyweight Gold Medalist.. what are your thoughts on his death in 1954. i have read Sonny Liston gave Sanders a terrible beating prior to his final fight against Willie James... any thoughts or opinions on this.

Yes, Liston did. I have ready Liston pretty much beat Sanders with his jab alone. Sanders had a hude edge over Liston in experience, but that didn't bother Liston. Ingemar Johansson lost in the olympic finals to Ed Sanders. Johansson ran like a scared jack rabbit against Ed Sanders. Looked like he was about to **** his pants before they DQed him. He was afraid of Sanders' size and power. They wouldn't even give Ingemar his silver medal for the next THIRTY years because of that shameful performance.

Sanders was thrown to the wolves a bit early in his pro career, but recorded a few nice wins. Sanders took a terrible beating from Willie James. Fight should have been stopped a lot earlier. He died from a blood clot in his brain.
