Teddy Atlas says the fighters today can't box. I disagree!

    Bernard Hopkins and Teddy Atlas was debating about Hopkins recent victory. Atlas said Hopkins was the last of the boxers and he fought agaist a limited fighter in Jean Pascal ( a fighter he picked by Ko). Hopkins educated Atlas on a few things and I will say there are plenty of good boxers who have good fundamentals. Floyd, Tim Bradley, Steve Cunningham, Wlad Klit and Chad Dawson are all good/great boxers. These are the elite I know of several more. This ignorant statement by Teddy Atlas needs to put to rest. Personally I respect the sweet science!

    But Floyd and Wlad are from '96 era, the new gen like Lacys and Pascals just aren't very well schooled, they're just athletic

    Compare to guys back in his time yea I can see him saying that. Boxing is a big business now and a lot of guys don't have that hunger as the guys of the past had. Boxers are stronger and faster now but they lack the fundamentals.

    I agree there are not as many as they were back in the day. But there are still some great boxers out there.

    Fighters of today are saying Teddy Atlas is a dumbass. I agree.

    Like all sports, people become smarter but are negated away from the key elements on how to maximize their personal skill and ability in the practice. Just because they were older, doesn't make them better.

    Atlas is an idiot. Today's terrible boxers would beat the clown **** out of fighters from the 20s and 30s with raw athleticism. Check out these lists and note how many world records are still standing from the old days:

    He's not completely wrong ..He stated to Hopkins that allot of boxers now a days don't know how to control distance ,how feints are a lost art ...So he's right on some points ..And Atlas knows more about boxing than most people here so he does have valid points !

    To a great extent, Atlas is right. Hopkins v Pascal is a perfect example of it.

    Atlas may know some things about boxing, but what he irrefutably does NOT know is how to compare one fighter to another. His disgraceful record of hilariously poor fight predictions cannot be overstated.

    Didn't he pick Pascal to defeat Hopkins? Why couldn't he tell that Pascal didn't know how to box before the fight?

    He's infoumouse for picking the wrong guy but that doesn't take away from his knowledge ..You can't be an assitant to Cus Demato and not have picked up something ..Teddy knows whats he's talking about ..

    Explain to me, in his grand knowledge of the boxing game, how he failed to notice that Pascal couldn't box before his prediction of the fight? Then how suddenly everything becomes clear after the fight is over?

    And why this seems to happen to Teddy on 3 out of 4 fights he analyzes?


    Anybody can carry a ****ing spit bucket.
