But if the bodybuilder had chosen boxing instead of being a Homo, they would most certainly have a major BANG on them.

"There have been some very interesting soviet studies on what makes a technically sound punch. The soviets looked at 120 boxers ranging from amateurs to experienced professionals. This study found that among the highest level boxers, the highest percent of their power (38.46%) came from the push-off of their back leg, whereas the arm extension and trunk rotation accounted for 24.12% and 37.42% respectively. Even more interesting was that the high level boxers were more ‘well rounded’ with their power development compared to the less experienced boxers (arm extension 37.99%, trunk rotation 45.50% and leg extension 16.51%). This shows that with an increase in boxing skill and experience, boxers improve coordination between arm, leg and trunk movements. Coaches working with junior strikers should give great attention to improving power within the legs, and their ability to coordinate the legs, trunk, & arms."

    Agreed. You miss the point.

The point being that if a bodybuilder had taken up boxing instead of bodybuilding, they would have the required level of flexibility and technique (Mechanics), coupled with fast twitch fibres which would equal a knock out punch.

Mechanics + Fast twitch fibres = Power.

My point is that power is a product of fast twitch muscle fibres. This is scientifically true and can not be argued.

Agree with that also, He needs to stop bouncing around and settle down and plant his feet more.

When he sets his feet he can hurt, look at the Maidana KD 1st round.

Your right mate a lot of these guys listen to what's said on Tv, then claim to be experts, I have seen many big massive guys that can't punch, then you get a skinny guy that can bang. When you see a knockout punch in slow mo, check the follow through and the feet. Yes Flexibility is one of them, amonst others, putting everything together creates the perfect punch, watch fighters like Mayweather, not a big muscular guy, but can be very explosive with speed and his other atributes. Well said mate.

yeah exactly, to improve power we dont just train the legs, pretty much everything from foot to fist has to be trained with a range of different techniques like plyometrics, isometric, strenght, power and explosiveness, agility and flexibilty, training your body in all these different ways will mean nothing unless technique is sound
