How much **** do you think a white fighter would get if he asked for support from the White European-American community?

I'm going with: ALOT.

I'm pretty sure it's racist for whites to support their own.

 

Most white boxers from the US tend to be underdogs so a lot more fans tend to love them more etc.

Most of my white friends (Casual boxing fans) Have no clue about who most white fighters are, even the Klitschkos.

 

Well that is their problem I guess. Look at Pavlic and how much push he got after he beat Taylor. Gatti, Ward etc they are not the best but they are underdogs who got a lot of love from US fans.

 

I myself never considered Pavlik an underdog. I think he got alot of support from his community mostly because he came from a blue-collar family and a city whose economy fell apart years ago and his agressive fighting style. Gatti and Ward got support because of their heart, toughness and fighting style. Contrary to popular belief, I think most whites give **** all about skin color concerning who they support.

 

Yea those points are valid:good However, there is a reason "The Great White Hope" term is used in sports.

Floyd's right. He doesn't get a lot of support from the black community. But....the little support he does get is from the African American Community. It's just at a very low level for someone like Floyd who is a world champion and from the heart land of America. The combination would almost gurantee support from his countrymen and moreso in the black community, but Floyd sabotages his own character and reputation but doing and saying some pretty stupid things. "His people" don't want to be associated with someone as ignorant and arrogant as Floyd....not unless they have anything to gain from it or they are just blindly following Floyd as over supportive fans. Not too many of those out there for a reason.

 

The term "Great White Hope" is a term penned by leftist sports writers to help push their agenda. A bull**** tag if there ever was one.

It's funny, we're always told by the media (Who happens to be liberal) that white fans didn't support black fighters years ago. It's total bull****. I've seen so many black and white filmed fights where the predominately white crowd is cheering for black fighters -- even against white fighters.

Like everything else -- it all comes down to politics.

 

True, but a lot of those black and white filmed fights blacks were not allowed to enter.

 

The government was pro-segregation, the majority of white people weren't. That's why it eventully folded.

 

Few more factors then that but yea pretty much.

 

I wouldn't put any importance on Floyd's comments. He was making similar comments about Hatton and his fans soon after the Hatton fight. Whether its Hatton or Pacquaio, Floyd needs to know he is not that type of fighter and never will be. Never ever ever ever will be.

 

Is that why blacks were killed in riots everytime Jack Johnson won a fight? You're a moron.
