The ATGs thread Pt 1 Sven Ottke

Sven Ottke should be appreciated more than he is, in my opinion.
    Read on...

    1. It was only Ottkes 13th fight when he won a world title

Consider how A Ward is raved about. Ward has had 24 fights, by this time Ottke had made 11 defences.
If Johnson beats Froch he will be in the S6 finals and if Ward was to beat Johnson it would be considered a big win, but Ottke beat Johnson at SMW back in 99.

    2. Ottke made 21 title defences and was a winner of 22 world title fights

Consider how Hopkins MW reign is thought to be special yet Ottke had more SMW title victories than Hopkins had MW victories and overall fought better opposition

    3. Ottkes reign was impressive when you consider he wasnt a puncher and didnt have an equalizer in his fists.

Look at who Ottke with feather fists beat

don't expect anyone to reply to this, all american boxing fans are in denial about the quality of sven ottke. they would much rather rave about glen johnson when he has lost 14 times . . . . . . . . thats right, 14 ****ing times

the phrase "out of sight, out of my mind" is appropriate when discussing dumb, ignorant, narrow minded american boxing fans. they've been brought up like brainwashed, gullable puppets believing everything they read in ring comic and see on the HBO comedy channel :deal

Glen Johnson whos 3-8-1 in world title fights and Ottke whos 22-0-0 in world title fights.
Brainwashed isnt the word. Ottke clearly beats Johnson and Johnson is world beater :patsch and Ottke a fake :patsch

Ottke was a good champion with some nice wins on his record, but an ATG?

I personally learned to appreciate Ottke with time, but let's not make him out to be something he wasn't.

    Also, Erdei is a fraud.

Whats Erdei got to do with it :patsch. This is Ottkes special moment.

As for modern great Erdei you can have your say on his tribute

Nice little run down. I actually like Ottke, despite his coasting and lack of real stopping power he was a good technician and someone I like watching now and again.

Ottke is a top 25 atg. Only the biased American, Iraq, and Saudi media and fans think otherwise. LULZ.

Lot's of weak title defences and a couple of bad decisions can't be ignored.

Ottke has an excellent resumé. Particularly if taken by face value. Some of his defenses had questionable if not controversial decisions though.

A couple of other points needs a mention when debating Ottke:

1: He was an exxxxtremely boring fighter yet a defensive genius.

2: His AM-career was nothing short of outstanding with some 300+ fights including wins over Chris Byrd, Michael Moorer, Zsolt Erdei, among others.

3: Ranked no.1 by Ring Magazine at SMW from 1999 to 2003.

I think we are all in agreement that his KO of Mundine was the single most hilarious event in the sport of boxing? :think
