Has there been a bigger waste of talent than Mayweahter?

Mayweather could have beaten every fight his haters say he supposedly "ducked" and would barely be hovering around top 25. Roy Jones Jr won titles from middleweight to heavyweight for the first time in decades, beating 2 ATG's in the process. ANd he's still hated on.


The top 20 is more or less set. Beating the likes of Cotto and Margarito wouldnt have enhanced Mayweathers legacy in any great way.

Beating Pac would be worth beating 10 Cotto level fighters. Is Sugar Ray Leonard remembered for beating Cotto level fighters or Hearns level fighters. Is Leonard remembered for beating Dave Green or Roberto Duran?

 

its not an insult that mayweather isnt better than armstrong and i was in no way taking away from floyd career

i was just defending armstrong

i mean he won more fights than pac and floyd combined maybe had as many KO's as Floyd and Mannys put together

he won 3 titles at 3 weights when there were 8 weights and one champ and his resume is littered with hall of famers

i think floyd and manny are top guys and great fighters but not top 25

but thats no insult boxing has a rich history of over a century with hundreds of great fighters

The guys have already been listed, he'd have cleaned up from 130-147. That's what he'd be remembered for instead of being a great superfeatherweight who went on to have a couple of decent victories.

Why choose? After hatton he could have cleaned us himself instead of leaving pac to do it. Why is pac worth so much as a ww victory? Surely not the cotto level fighters he defeated?

If someone would have told me that Floyd would become the most profitable boxer in the world, while winning championships through 5 divisions and be known as the greatest of all-time at a weight class in 2001 I would have called you a ****ing lie.

Someone like Whitaker fought the likes of Ben Baez, Harold Brazier, and Jerry Smith. He'd never fight a Demarcus Corley(Who nearly KO'd Cotto and was just competitive with Marcos Maidana).

 

this whole thread and some of the people in it either just ruly dont like the guy for whatever reason or have an agenda or both but this waste of talent is just ridiculous.

you want him to do more...fine.....but to be as succesful and accomplished as he is...i just dont see that as a waste of talent.
