Did Bruce Seldon have the ability to give Tyson a good fight?

He was rocked badly by Joe Hipp, who was in horrible shape when he faced him on the McNeeley undercard.

His chin could never hold up to Mike's power.

    Hipp gave Morrison hell too.
Morrison's another flakey overrated 90s heavyweight. I'll give Herbie Hide a mention while we're at it.

It's ridiculous that a "world heavyweight title" fight can go almost unnoticed on the undercard of a farcical heavyweight exhibition like Tyson-McNeeley.
1995 was a HW low point.
That was pretty much the sales angle on Bowe-Holyfield 3, for "The People's Championship". The division had gone to **** but Riddick and Evander could still be called upon to put on a good fight. :good

Joe was in great shape for that fight. Looks can be deceiving with some bodies. At 225 or thereabouts, Joe had excellent workrate and good stamina. It was the same weight he fought Morrison at... Joe could be a tough night for just about anybody, so long as his skin held up.

Hipp was a tough customer for sure, but he had pretty much disappeared from fighting anyone of note for some time. Perhaps he was in good shape, but probably not the best guy Seldon could have fought to defend his heavyweight title. Hipps face did take a lot of punishment in fights for sure.

Sorry, I always like Hipp, as I lived in his area of the US for some time. As noted above, Seldon was a King puppet and a footnote to the division. I am not sure he makes my top 20 on 1990's heavyweights.

Hipp would have definitely been a better fight for Tyson then Seldon. Thats pretty sad.

When Hipp applied pressure he almost took Seldon out. A Hipp vs Tyson match would have been much more entertaining.

NO! He didn't have the ability to give a pressure power puncher like Tyson a good fight. I saw what Bowe did to him in 1 round, so I bet a friend of mine that Seldon wouldn't get out of the 1st round. All Seldon had to do was make it out of the round and I'd lose the bet. My friend took that bet. I wasn't at all surprised by the result. Seldon did not take a dive. He simply was not built to handle that type of power.

If they'd have fought ten times,it would have come out the same.

Seldon is by far the worst "champion" ever. Hell, MCneeley and Mathis did better against Tyson.

THIS is the guy who was to be a warm up for a fight against Evander? what a joke.

The guy took a dive, just like he did against Bowe.

They asked Tyson at the press conference what he thought of Seldons jab, to which Tyson replied...."Have you guys ever seen me fight before?"

    The videos on youtube somewhere.

If they'd have fought ten times, they still wouldn't have had fought once.

Once Mike connects I see that being it but where forgeting that tyson never used his head anymore, he just looked for the big bomb

If seldon was more relaxed and self assured, he had the skills to keep mike at bay for a few rounds. He could probably do a buster douglas on him but sooner or later tyson is going to smash that glass
