Sauerland said they had received a lowball offer from Interbox. They are therefore also exploring the Stieglitz fight as it would mean a belt and big money if one of the major german networks pick up the fight.

I dont mind the Stieglitz route myself. Kessler wants to be undisputed and the belt would give him better leverage for negotiations with Bute/Froch/Ward.

Lets be real here. Bute needs Kessler more than Kessler needs Bute.

Exactly. Kessler - Bute would be a great fight, but Bute is the one who needs it the most.

Kessler has to prove he's not shot. If he wants to face the super 6 winner, he also has to face Bute first. Otherwise, he is taking an easy path and he has no excuse to do it. You guys gave written dozens of posts about Bute on tha same matter. It would be fair to apply the same medicine to Kessler, right?

I agree that Bute needs Kessler more than the contrary but it wouldn't excuse Kessler to avoir Bute. Anyway, Stieglitz will fight Kessler only if he looks bad on Saturday.

The first part is just plain silly. Kessler's resumé is littered with the best fighters this division has had to offer for the last decade while Bute's resumé is littered with the Who's Who of Garbagemen and Cabdrivers. Bute needs a top flight opponent ASAP. Not Kessler. Comprend?

Haha... Kessler is pulling an audience of 15.000 + for the Bouadlia scrap. Not bad for a tuneup... I think there's plenty of money to be made in Denmark for anybody with the balls to step out of their comfort zone. That does not include Bute (or rather Bute's promotors wouldn't let him fight outside of Canada), :deal

Showtime signed Bute (not Stieglitz) to fight for SMW supremacy and it's pushing for Bute - Kessler as the mandatory for the winner of super6.
Anyway this thread is nonsense: you cannot start negociations before the two of them fight and win their next matches, it would be plain stupid: so no lowballs no other routes, Laffie is right both parties involved are trying to get leverage even before negotiations really start.

Yes, Kessler vs. Stieglitz is a solid fight. Especially given Kessler many problems.

Also - I would not want to see Kessler-Bute be dictated by one of the fighters...

I think it is in everyone's interest to make Kessler-Stieglitz first. Then the fight between Kessler-Stieglitz and Bute-Pavlik will be a unification fight.

All this is of course in serious jeopardy if Boudla beats Kessler in a couple of days.

    You may be right.

Bute needs to meet top opposition away from home for once...

According to Sauerland, he has nevertheless received a lowball offer from Interbox, who must be stupid according to you.

I dont think its stupid. Why not start negotiations to see where they are? No doubt it'll be tough to reach an agreement. Kessler should be paid an exorbitant amount for fighting Bute in Montreal IMO. We are talking in excess of 5M USD.

If I undestand you well, if you have a good resume, then you can sit on your ass. If his eye is ok, Kessler has no excuse to avoid Bute.

About Sauerland, you will have trouble to convince me he can give more money to Kessler with a fight against Stieglitz than Bute. Showtime gives 2 millions $ per fight to Interbox to pay Bute and his opponent. That's a very good beginning. Add the crowd live in Montreal and the TV rights in Quebec and Denmark. This "lowball" offer smells like bull****.

5 millios US? He got 500 000$ from Showtime in the tournament. If Sauerland asks 5 millions, it's call a way to duck and face somebody else.

A fight Bute/Kessler would generate more $ in Montreal than in Dennmark. They would be stupid to do the fight there.

I dont know what Showtime paid, but I know Kessler got about 2½M USD per groupstage fight in the s6 and 5M for Calzaghe (where Palle made an additional couple of millions from PPV and television rights).

A Stieglitz fight would probably, if a big german broadcaster picks it up, generate a purse the size of the s6 fights.
