Wilfred Benitez was incredibly talented, aged 22 he was a 3 weight world champ

At 25 he was washed up

His talent is obnoxiously overrated. He's done with it probably the best that he could.

Him and joe jeanette are the two boxers that make me sit up and go "wow". To absolutely destroy non pareil at middleweight then take on the top heavyweights of his day including a knockout victory over the heavyweight champ is amazing.

What he did then would be the equivalent of danny geale knocking out martinez, knocking out chambers, adamek and haye, battering wlad for the first half of the fight before being stopped, twice, then moving down in weight to twice school hopkins. Honestly i'm amazed at his achievements.

Up until taking a step too far with jeffries he had defeated everyone he faced and he still went on to become lightheavyweight king. And even took on the might jack johnson when way past his best. A true legend of the sport.

As for jeanette, he doesn't make this list but he's in my top 25 heavyweights and his exploits in paris are jaw dropping.

As for floyd i'd have loved him to face winky after hoya then move up and take on taylor.

Unlike most I think his welterweight run was quite impressive and it made up for his lack of run at 140, but he never built on it. Had he beaten winky and taylor after hoya he'd be a lock in everyone's top 10.
Did he have the talent to do so? From what we've seen i'd say yes.

It is, looking over his resume and what he achieved, very underrated fighter I think. I had him losing to pea and sturm but had him beating tito and shane(lmw). He even gave good past prime showings. Fought from superfeather to middleweight taking on all the greats apart from winky. He drops out of my list as soon as hopkins retires tho.

Castillo was a more intelligent fighter with a sturdier chin and could cut the ring better. Cotto may end up ranked higher though, but h2h Castillo is better imo

If Cotto gets in its a complete sham. Cotto has one victory over a reigning champion. Never was the man of any division.
