    dont have nicky cook in the super-featherweight top 15

    how can he get a title shot whn not in the rankings??? , the fight with burns has been made and signed

    ps: i expect him to appear in the june rankings when they come out

    Its a voluntary defence.Burns can fight anyone he wants,they dont have to be ranked.

    taken from the wbo rules

    SECTION 9. VOLUNTARY DEFENSES
    In the interim period of the compulsory defense of his title against the Mandatory Challenger, the World Champion may defend his title against any opponent selected from the list of the fifteen best boxers in his weight category or division, according to the current list of classifications of the Organization.

    this is also in the rules

    (20) To make or recommend exceptions or variations from the Rules as the World Championship Committee determines are necessary,

    I guess they would argue that Cook had been inactive but since their last rankings has made a comeback and earned a ranking

    madness. voluntary defences should still be against top 10 fighters otherwise it hurts the credibility of the boxer, the belt and boxing in general.

    voluntary has to be in the top 15 still.

    cook will be in the june rankings. really cook is not that bad an opponent.

    Yet those mugs that Burns has already beaten didn't hurt the credibility of the boxer, the belt or boxing in general? Its outrageous really.

    This is no surprise at all, why all these pointless posts about whingeing that the WBO is cortrupt, when so is pretty much all the other orgs. If you are a champ of an org, lose it then take a break for a year or two, when you come back you're near guaranteed to get a title shot.

    So I take it Juan Manuel Marquez is in the WBO top 15 Welterweight rankings?
    The rules dont mean anything,they change them whenever it suits them.
