Tyson would have won. He had sen better days. This had more to mentaly than physicaly but was still the best heavyweight around. He should have gotten a rematch with Douglass. He would have won and should have fought Holyfield sooner than they were schulded to as the champion.
Holyfield was real god but also to brave for his own good.
I see a competive fight but Tyson in the lead going into the 10th and what would be the last round.

Holy late tko, slightly ahead on pts. He got caught by Cooper coz he wasn't on. Against Mike he would have left no stone unturned and Mike, although always dangerous, was already past his best. Tyson rocks him but can't finish him.

The Tyson of the Spinks fight beats Holy, probable late stoppage.

I think the incredible prime Tyson myth gets a bit overrated. Someone like Holyfield could have exposed him at any point in his career. He went into prison a young man and came out a young man. It's not like he was inside for a decade is it?

Ive posted an article on here, there is a thread about it somewhere.
Holyfield himself stated he didnt know how a fight in 91 would have gone.

No Tyson was not in for a decade, but 3 years out of your sport WILL affect you and Tyson was looking finished during the Ruddock fights according to most commentators. Bowe was finished by 96, Holyfield was though of as washed up in 96, why was Tyson thought of as still in his prime even though he turned pro and done it all before them???

He turned pro in 85 and 10 years later was coming out prison....hardly a young man in career terms. Especially a fighter with his style of boxing.
Its not like he was a tall fighter like Ali, Lewis, Holmes or Vitali, who could just lean back and rely on their jabs

You only have to look at Holyfields fights leading up to the second fight with Bowe to see how Holy would have fought Tyson. He wouldnt have fought him like he did in 96, its a fact. It would have been a slugfest, and Tyson had bigger bombs at this time. Holy would have been game, but he probably would have been stopped, he just couldnt hold himself back when someone wanted to trade with him. In 96, he had to look for spots to rest and hold, because he could no longer fight at the same pace. Holyfield had an iron grip on Tyson and looked to hold after every exchange.

Thats debatable. You could say that because Holyfield knew Tyson was such a dangerous puncher, he would have adjusted accordingly, even though he did trade with Foreman, etc. It could also be that Holyfield getting into a war with Tyson might have sapped some belief out of Tyson as well. It's hard to tell.

If Holyfield ever showed me he was a disciplined fighter I would agree with you. Holyfield did understand his limitations in the mid 90's very well and I attribute that to his work with Tommy Brooks.
At this time though Holy was fighting stupid with everyone. I mean it doesnt get any more limited and crude than Bert Cooper, and Cooper still put Holy on his ass.
