Any shoutouts for Elmer Ray, Jimmy Bivins, or Lem Franklin for Joe Louis?

By 1955 Liston was 14-1 and had yet to face a rated fighter. 1956-57 he was in prison and never made the ratings until his comeback in late 1958.

Incorrect. Marty Marshall was rated in the Ring Magazine top 10 light-heavyweight rankings during the first two Liston fights.

it is correct that marsall was rated in another weight division the first time they met, that was the time marshall won. By the second time they met marshall had lost his LH rating to two lightheavyweights who beat him in back to back fights in the interval between fighting Liston the second time.

marshal never did that well against heavyweights and that is why he was not rated at heavyweight. world war II vet Marty had already been knocked out twice by (one round archie moore KO victim) embrell davidson and outpointed by toxie hall the only other heavyweight of note marshall had faced before fighting Liston.

Not true according to the Boxing Register 4th edition, which lists Marty Marshall as still top 10 when Liston destroyed him in 6 rounds. Marshall lost his ranking by the time of their third fight.

anyone else think joe louis could have fought mellio betina? It would have been a chance for the bomber to face a rated southpaw.

I would have liked to have seen Tyson fight Francesco Damiani in Italy (perhaps in the ancient Colosseum in Rome ! Or in a big football stadium) ..... and Adilson Rodrigies in Brazil .... and Bruno in London ...... the world tour idea that Cayton and Jacobs had planned.

Interesting how Tyson lost his world titles in Feb 1990, so you make his reign 1986-1989.

Whereas Frazier lost his world title in Jan 1973, yet you include 1973 in his reign.

Patterson & Dempsey lost their titles in late 1962 & late 1926, but did not make defenses earlier in those years.

All 4 of those champions lost their world titles in a written year which they had not made a successful defense prior to losing their titles in an unsuccessful defense. Yet 3 of them have the written year they made just one unsuccessful defense included in their reigns, while for Tyson you cut his short...

Nice choices, except i'd rather not see Lewis-Byrd & Lewis-Ruiz.
