Anything is better than anothetr Pacquio /Floyd thread !

    I like this part :
FIGHTING STIFFS WON’T HELP THE “LEARNING CURVE”
    2. Meaningless records. We don’t have the fight clubs anymore, so the only way a fighter can make any money is to get on TV. The only way to get on TV is to have a perfect, or near perfect record. The only way to have a perfect record is (A) be a Superman, or (B) fight a bunch of nobodies. Guess what? Most records are built up by fighting far less than qualified fighters, which may get you on TV, but helps a fighter learn nothing! “Old School” fighters and trainers were more concerned with having their fighter face different styles, even if it meant a loss or more, so that they could learn and progress, because they knew there would be another fight next month, because fights didn’t depend on protected pugs with undefeated records. Thus the “Old School” fighters learned.

I agree its a great read, Its also true except the left hook part, fighters back then had better basics. This also applies to a few decades back remember how recently we saw thomas hearns teach number 6 p4p tim bradley how to throw a good jab.

I totally agree with this ..

NOBODY IS TAUGHT TO FIGHT USING ANGLES
And how many fights have you seen lately stopped on cuts? Old School fighters were taught that an orthodox fighter should always keep his face turned slightly to the right when he jabs, so when (not if) heads do collide, the side of your head get hit, and you don’t get busted up around the eyes.

Did you ever explain how the sport is evolved ?

Because I'd like to hear your argument as to why fighters fight less these days if the sport has evolved so much ?

boxing has become more off a show, especially big money fights. back then they just fought a lot. this wouldnt matter if we had less belts so people would fight the best.
I think fighting 3 times a year is perfect but its nothing compared to decades back, for example compare amir khans experience with willie pep at that age he had like 4 times the ammount of fights.
I think prospects should fight every month though, the big stars should fight atleast 2 times a year.

The result of your arguement is listed below please Read :

This is why more and more hype jobs are getting exposed these days ..

good point, but look at tyson he took a busy route as a prospect climbing the ranks once youre a champ you can fight 2/3 times a year. we already have less rounds nowadays for the boxers safety(allthough i dont think it matters because the intensity goes up with less rounds) and also refs stop the fight quicker, look at juanma vs salido the ref stopped it early he didnt let juanma take more punches or a brutal ko.
