Given his record against other rival champs at his weight i suppose Naseem Hamed would qualify for this.

Carlos Zarate, however, several years later he did come back.

If this thread was about "Great fighters that retired after being shown up by a faded,inactive,coke-addicted,blown-up Welterweight",yeah, that would immediately come to my mind.

Greb kind of had another rather big handicap, that ended to his career, post Flowers! ;)

Tiberi just annoyed me in the end. Yes, he was unlucky to drop the decision; yes, he had the right to throw his toys out the pram; but there comes point where he needed to quietly pick them up, and step back in the ring...

Joe Louis actually WON a bad decision against Walcott. avenged it & then retired.
Larry Holmes in the Michael Spinks rematch. He did later comeback, as well as Louis.

I don't think the thread maker meant pseudo-retirements.

Yeah too bad that didn't happen.. It was a controversial fight obviously. I felt Hagler won.

Marvin Hagler thought it was a bad decision, but he did not fight well against Leonard. Hearns would have loved to fight the Hagler who fought Ray in 1987.

Marvin Hagler was great but he whined after every loss or draw. I do not think Leonard won but Hagler let Leonard steal the rounds at the end. Something that Hagler should have not let happen.

When I think about his draw with Antoufremo, I think Hagler had nothing to complain about in that bout's decision.
