I don't see any comparison between Valero and Urango to be honest mate. Urango is leaden footed, and as you know I'm a huge fan of footwork. It makes or breaks a fighter and Urango does't have any which limits him. That makes you a plodder. He's also a lot wider than Valero and has no variety. Never did he display any subtlety or advanced level thinking. The archetypal wide brawler.
In all fairness mate, he beat Ndougjo (who did beat malignaggi - which kind of makes your other point a bit...meh). And who was the other...Vilches? Was I supposed to throw a party for these wins?
He still fought at a higher level than Valero and beat better fighters :good Definitely a good B-level win for Hatton, who only has one A- minus win.
Was Bailey not a good win? The point isn't you celebrating the wins, its that you wern't slagging Urango off as a Hatton opponent while they were happening. As soon as he lost.......BOOM! You were in!!!:yep
I'd have been more impressed if Hatton had beat Valero. And not just because that was never viable The fact Hatton won a shut out, and most of the rounds were just jabbing and grabbing, really demonstrates Urango's level and limited ability. He wouldn't just diffuse Valero that easily. But **** this, talking about Valero in this thread is gay
I agree, I'm not saying he was a World beater. I the Njgoudjo (can never spell it) cemented him as a top ten IMO, Never saw the fight but apparently Herman was given the short end of the stick against Castillo, and I scored the Paulie fight 115-113 to Herman. But it was a decent win. Froch is building a decent ledger, but Hatton has some B wins plus a win over an old Tszyu. Still enough to edge him IMO. Although as I say, at the end of Frochys career goes know where he will rank, he continues to surprise me.
I don't see how everyone is beating Malinaggi. I thought he'd only lost by a horse hair against Cotto before Hatton destroyed him? The guy is a two time champion. They don't hand those out you know. Why do you think Dirrell's never had one? The point being as well that Hatton destroyed Malinaggi and Froch just managed to beat Dirrell.
Cotto battered him to be fair mate, it was only that Cotto can be a lazy ****er that Paulie got though the fight.
I think a few of the points in the OP made the red mist come down more than the idea Hatton might have better wins currently. I think on that point its extremely tight at the moment. So much so, even beating a 42 year old Glen Johnson, who is probably a 'B' win if we're classifying them, might be enough to edge it.
As I said, nothing special, but another decent win to add to the decent wins Ricky had. Valero of course showed a lot more potential than Urango, Urango established himself in the top ten and was therefore a decent win for Hatton IMO. And yes Vilches wasn't very good IMO. But still, was a lovely K.O. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CXtpnJZesg[/ame] Hatton, post-Floyd was not too impressive. Buzzed against fringe contender (by that point even more) Lazcano (who was also a career lightweight) in a match no one wanted to see, outboxed Paulie (and I said at the time that was because he didn't have to worry about what was coming back) and got splattered by Pac. Froch will easily surpass him IMO. But I feel I need to wait until the dust has settled, sit back and evaluate fully what Froch has achieved. At the moment I'm in 'when will this run end' mode, and will wait to see how widely he loses to Ward and what he does after that, there is a still alot of twists and turns in Frochs building of his legacy IMO. I think both Froch, by any standard, is going on a quality run :yep
Is that a rhetorical question? Either way its ridiculous, because you should be watching fights before passing judgment, and Cotto actually smashed him. Just like anyone decent should beat him. Malignaggi is a bad, bad fighter at the top level. His true level is squeezing out a somewhat unjust verdict against the Herman Ndougjo's of this world. Cotto, Hatton and Khan all destroyed him and were never posed a single question in the process.
He was crap in the 2nd Ndou fight and I felt Herman Ngoudjo beat him clearly. Watch the fights, average fighter at best.
