This nearly happened in the late 1980s, but Spinks fought Gerry Cooney instead. Who wins?

Spinks by decision. It would probably look somewhat like one of the Holmes/Spinks fights.

    Tucker via 7-5 decision.

TNT also might finish it with a big bomb, like the monstrous uppercut he landed on Tyson, which lifted him off his feet; Spinks (& most others) would've been sparked cold by that nuke.

spinks never fought an in form a-list heavyweight. Tucker was unproven, what was his best win, douglas quitting on him?

I still favour Tucker, youth, miles on the clock, size, above all at that time tucker had a beter work rate than holmes with the same reach.

Spinks by decision. Greatness usually beats goodness.

Tucker was a good fighter but not as much of a winner as Spinks.

Could go either way but I'd say the Spinks that befuddled Holmes would squeak out a decision here.

My money would have been on Tucker. If he'd fought as well as he did against Tyson.

It would n't have been a good fight to watch. Very slow in places.

But what if he fought as bad as he did against Douglas?

Spinks was more consistent, I think that may of given him the edge.

    Spinks WM15 (8/7).

Don't know much about drugs but I think Tucker could soundly stop Spinks at his relative best and lose a marginal decision while at his worst form .
Tucker was no Cooney , he was durable and had more idea about how to fight.

But Spinks was n't a great heavyweight, though a good one. His greatness lay in the lighter division.
