depends on a lot of variables. I've had abs since I was 11 but didn't really start working out until I was 13
11 years, 3 months, 1 weeks, 2 days and 3 hours.....and 32 minutes..............................and 10 seconds, no 11, no 12 seconds. Ok ok just keeping counting...15 seconds.
Try not to wear your Mrs. Timberlake shirt in public. The fact that you keep comparing boxing to street fighting shows that you know nothing. Good luck with all those boxing skills when someone pulls a knife on you, or pulls out a gun, or smashes a bottle over your head. We're not talking about what any of us would do, this thread is about you, and you've made it clear that you can't fight well, yet you chose not to walk away before a situation escalates to something you're not good at. I'm not good at doing backflips. If someone challenges me to doing a backflip contest, I'm gonna walk away. Not engage in something that I know will probably get me hurt just because I think I'm supposed to 'step up to the challenge.'
That's not totally true. At the risk of invoking some martial arts version of Godwin's law, Bruce Lee himself admired many aspects of boxing as a self defence system. Ask yourself the question - if you were to get into a fight on the street would you rather it be against an experienced boxer, or someone with no experience of boxing?
This is my point. If you train Krav Maga you get straight into learning self defence techniques, strikes, takedowns, conditioning etc. You could go to boxing classes and do purely techniques for months before you even spar. What good is that to somebody wanting to learn how to defend themselves as fast as possible?
I'd have to agree that if I left a pizza place with my friends every time some crazed ******* told me to for no good reason, I wouldn't be very proud of myself as a person, and I always prefer to avoid conflicts. Someone coming up to you and harassing you does require knowledge of self defense. It has nothing to do with manhood but the ability to defend your right to do what you like when you like without being unreasonably harmed. Go to a gym and it will do wonders for your body and mind, as well as provide you with a good amount of confidence and self-defense knowledge.
Good post :bbb To the OP Just one thing I have a brother who is gay and you wouldnt guess. I know people who walk around acting like Bruno like someone else said. there is a difference between sleeping with men and acting like a puff :bart On the original question you had Boxing is good for toughening you up, self confidence and self defence however in my personal experience since i have become slightly proficient I have been less inclined to get into fights. Don't really no why and I have had several occasions where I could have.
I've had this many times. I think it comes down to the fact you know what you're capable of and have nothing to prove to yourself or anyone else so have no need to fight.
Part of it is certainly this. Another part of it (at least for me) is it makes you less ignorant to what people could be capable of. I mean this in the sense that to some drunk person at a bar who doesn't do any type of training in boxing/martial arts/etc., he may see a potential fight as simply a fight between him and some other simple idiot at a bar/on the street/wherever. To someone who may box or train in some sort of combat sport, you realize, who's to say this other guy doesn't train as well? Who's to say he's not some experienced cage fighter? So either beat up some less experienced person because you train and he doesn't, or engage in a fight with someone else with combat experience that may kick your ass. Either way it's pointless.
Right, I see what you're saying.:good On the point about boxing for the confidence to walk away from a fight, this is exactly why I've had my son doing martial arts since the second a club would take him. It's not so he can beat folk up when he's older it's so he'll have the self confidence to just walk away.
Have you ever considered that those people who didn't "act gay" before coming out were simply trying to be something they're not? So...I'm suppose to carry a knife with me....and stab people who tell me to leave? LOL You're right man clearly the issue here is that I'm acting too gay...what I should've done was simply left and ate outside on the sidewalk, thankfully next time I will carry a knife and if anyone else tells me to leave, I will stab them in their faces. Then when I'm on trial defending myself from attempted murder charges, I'll come and ask you for some more advice...
Thanks for the advice d00d I know reading might hurt but I could've sworn I said learning to box can help you learn to fight (something people who actually fight for living keep saying). But who am I to listen to those guys when I should listen to BladeJrs - internet-thug So if you're eating a restaurant with your friends, and I came up to your table and threw your food on the ground, you'd simply (to avoid confrontation) just leave? Wow...and I thought gay people were stereotyped as sissies Great posts. Glad there's some people who know what they're talking about
And I could have sworn I just told you fighting in the street is not boxing, but apparently that's too complex for you to comprehend. Boxing is not the same as fighting. The streets are dirty, boxing has rules. Good luck slipping a knife shot to the body. And not sure what the basis for the internet thug title comes from, but thank you nonetheless. That doesn't happen to me. Virus gave you good advice that if you really want self defense for the streets learn something like krav maga, but you continue to try and argue against any advice being given to you. Your sensitivity to everyone's comments is making it clear why people see you as an easy target and start **** with you.
