Agree Flea totally. Also on the Harris fight i remember him beating Maussa up and Jim Watt constantly saying ''look how tired he is...he's badly gassed after 4th round...''. He supposedly didn't prepare for fight thought he could chin him and walk out as champion. Badly gassed and fell apart.....

 

Gotta be truthful mate, this is absolute bollox, terrible..Hatton fought pure stiffs at the men, i was there. Magee was descent euro. You can rip apart most of hattons wins against past it fighters(castillo)....Hatton was matched with easy opposition, froch da man here pal

 

Whilst I believe people forget just how good Hatton was i.e cleaned up 140 and moved up and only lost to the very best boxing has to offer, i do believe he had an hell of an easier route than Froch. Hatton's best win came against Tzuyu who had a long lay-off and retired after the fight so it was far from prime.

Froch on the other hand has the best record in boxing imho, he fights anyone and anywhere. He isnt the best boxer and doesnt claim to be but he lives upto his claims of being a 'Warrior'. Look at the guy, did things the honest traditional route and wins the WBC title. How anyone can think Hatton has had a harder run is a ****ing joke!!!

 

He didn't really clean up at 140. He could only have claimed that had he fought Cotto and Judah. he spent ages fighting WBU cans.

 

Who really "cleans up" these days? Besides your Mum....;O)

Froch win resume is far better than Hatton already, hell Khan is catching him fast.

In terms of total resume then Hatton wins....but hell Maurice Harris has a hellauva a resume.

 

It still doesn't make Witter Hattons "greatest contemporary" mate. Not if you understand what the words mean....

Reasons arent so much that Hatton didnt think he could beat him (i mean he thought he was gonna beat pacman) but I know Hatton and his team knew it was to much of a risky fight against a guy who could well beat him and not much reward....plus Hatton didnt like mr witter one bit.

Witter was the same level as good old wicky...but wicky got more tv exposure.

 

Don't be a dick and pick a fight mate just because you ****ed up on what "greatest contemporary" means. No ones mentioned ducking in this thread, least of all me.

Hattons "greatest contemporaries" are Zoo, Mayweather, Cotto etc. Witter is probably, as I said, his "biggest rival".

Hatton is not, was not a great fighter....a good world level operator. He had the biggest fan base, after Tyson and De La Hoya in recent times...this is why people start going on about greatness with him and Wicky.

Witter never got the same chance....Gaz how do u think wicky would have done against Zab?

 

Hattons far from a great fighter mate but being world class for 3/4 years makes him a pretty good one in British terms.

Prime Zab is tricky, a southpaw which Hatton has trouble with but on the other hand Judah was long out of that division by the time that Hatton had beaten Zoo and was a "proper" world champ.

Given that Zab was last at 140 in something like 2003 and Hatton was still a bit green doing the WBU thing at that point then I'd take Zab by stoppage.

 

Hatton gets judged too hard for me. He had 4 or 5 good wins against guys who wore a world belt.

He didn't have the ability to jump weights as was shown against Callazo that night in Boston but he was useful at 140lbs.

Just about Top 15 ATG Brit for me and if he had kept his nose clean he would have taken his place in the popularity contest that is the IBHOF.

 

Hatton would have beaten a weight drained cotto imho and other than zany he beat all he needed to, he was a decent champ in a weaker division at the time cos all the action was at welter at the time. Cotto would of slaughtered Hatton at welter btw.
