My friend I have been on here for a very long time, This is my 4th screename, im far from a noob on this forum.

Il address, your responses later when I have time.

One thing the quality of Joe Louis tapes, is not as good as now...no debate on that.

Even Dempsey stuff, is to jittery, we dont see real time action.

In fact some of there stuff is sped up slightly due to the camera they were using.

From a technical stand point boxing has not improved since Louis...but from a physical stand point it has.

The sport was tougher back then, and fighter harder in the mind.

Still Rocky resume, and impact does not touch Lennox Lewis, Lewis resume is the second best in heavyweight history-

    Wins
    G. Mason
    D. Ruddock
    T. Morrison
    T. Tucker (champion)
    F. Bruno (champion)
    O. McCall (champion)
    F. Botha (champion)
    E. Holyfield X 2 (champion ATG)
    V. Klitshcko (champion ATG)
    A. Golota
    S. Briggs (champion)
    M. Tyson (champion ATG)
    D. Tua
    H. Rahman (champion)
    R. Mercer

Very true, one of the problems with modern boxing-

Hence why S. Liston in 1962 could easily compete today, think S. Peter with 30 pounds less fat and far superior technical skills.

ALSO can everyone watch Ali against Copper in summer of 1963 then watch his fight 7 months later against Liston....**** me did Ali up his A game in big fights, he is like twice the speed and intensity.

Watch Ali against Foreman, then watch Ali against Wepner, always makes me think Ali was a completing different animal when he feared/respected an opponent compared to not taking them seriously.

Yeah, Ali def. boxed down to the level of his opponent esp. post 1970.

My lazy split on the HWs is pre-Liston and post-Liston. I think the gap in size of the top flight guys is pretty marked over just a decade or so.

Holyfield was not clearly behind Bowe, have you actually watched there fights? If those men fought 10 times, it would be 5 a piece.

It happens that Bowe longevity was crap, If they had the 4th fight without doubt Holyfield would have won it, it was that close.

Every time you gauge head to head...you have to rank it out 10 fights...

    Example-

Bowe 5 - Holyfield if they fought 10 times-

Tyson 9-1 Spinks if they fought 10 times

Lewis 8-2 Rahman if they fought 10 times

    That kind of thing.

Ive said this before, hence why it stupid to rank fighters in such a black and white approach.

If i went back 150 years ago, id be the strongest bench presser around...things change.

Marciano belongs to an era far far removed from anything we have today..

Head to head is one thing, but yet again Lewis dominated far more than Marciano did.....Rocky fought 3 or 4 years at the top...Lewis did it for over a decade against far more variety of opponents.

Also rocky had a debatble win against fighter early on.....they changed the scoring for that fight....but in reality he should have lost.

As for me calling you a noob

As for Lennox being a greater Heavy than Rocky, yes, I've said that a few times, is that what we are arguing about? :rofl

Okay, but I still think you're picking too much on what amazing footage we have of fights that happened f'n years ago :happy

    :good

I was watching Ali against Wepner and he looked so ****ing poor, then i watch him 6 months later against frazier for there 3rd bout...it like a totally different beast....although both men were actually shot.

Also a shout out to Joe Frazier....he was ****ing awesome in the fight of the century, really really good and far better than Rocky-

You got to give 1, its the law of percentages......

    Tyson 9 - 1 Gazoc

Tyson could actually walk in and slip a disc, blow a knew, or have a heart attack and all of a sudden you got a win mate.

You must agree with me or il get the dark lord to have words with you-

On a side note guys - What do you think if....IF...........I F Haye beats Wlad, then goes onto beat Vitali?

For the record im going to Germany for the fight and think Wlad stops him in the 9th.

But still in my books Haye got a chance to make history. Be interested to hear your take on things-

Also this is a good thread, alot of back and forth but all very mature...and alot of people that know alot about boxing...it always fun to debate such topics.
