Undefeated. Should win the Super Six (really, who thinks Froch is going to beat him?). Not a big puncher, but has some charisma. Hopkins is 46. Who else is out there? Bradley? Cloud? Ortiz? Can Ward help carry American boxing in this down period? Is he marketable enough?
LOL. It'll be interesting to find out, you know? I know Showtime hopes so, but it remains to be seen how big of a fan base Ward can generate.
if he was 100% white, then yeah. but since he's half black, I don't think people would be as willing to back him.
Depends where the fight is, if its america like all his other fights then yeah froch has no chance except maybe knocking him out late. If its in england wards lost.. PERIOD. If its in neautral terroritory where no home town decisions are given then its 60/40 to ward IMO. And to answer your question he aint marketable at all, he's a generic fighter, hes good/ great but still to generic
He'll be successful no doubt so I guess he's a savour in one regard but he isn't America's next big star. His style is horrible to watch. People just won't be able to warm to his boxing, just like they couldn't warm to Wlad in the States. He's the man to bring success to American boxing though, no doubt. Not stardom though.
He's a good boxer but if he's the guy who's going to be carrying American boxing for the next 10 years then it'll be relegated to the back room of bars and school gyms long before then. There's nothing interesting about him at all.
Yeah, I guess "from mediocrity." Will Ward help keep USA boxing relevant? He should keep winning, I guess the question is how big of a star will he become. Mayweather is on the way out. So is Hopkins. Dawson: We'll see. Ortiz? Great story but flawed. Bradley? Not sure. Cloud? Like him but he's not well known. Just wondering who is going to be carrying the mantle for US pro fighters soon. If not Ward, who?
I hope you're kidding....if not, then STFU you ignorant ****. And no Ward is not exciting enough to become the face of boxing.
I dont understand why so many people hate him... He comes to fight, gives it 100%, is undefeated, champion, clearly has skills which makes up for his lack in power. He can be a saviour for the hardcore US boxing fans but he will never be in the same media spotlight as DLH,Mosley etc..
errr.... i dont get this "nationalist pride" thang at all.... Why does the US need a "savior" to be delivered? Delivered from what, lol? Ive served my country for 6yrs in the Marine Corps, so i do got national pride in myself. So tell me why do i need a boxer to represent that? The ****ing pride comes from yourself, not someone who represents it. I think its about time for the US to get over themselves and the "elitist" mindset. We're not freaking different or better than anyone else in the world. This is what pisses off everyone in the first place, cuz we got some stupid ass attitude thinking we're better than them. Boxing is bigger than America. Yes, its still the boxing mecca, but the sport isnt constrained to one country. Its International, and the only way the sport will progress itself, is by diversifying and spreading itself to other countries, creating better competition.
