This is part 2. I ran a similar thread a few days before the 6th round TKO win over Bouadla to see what people's best guesses were as to Kessler's current condition & abilities vis-a-vis a hypothetical Pavlik match-up some time in 2011.

    Here is the original thread:
    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=316425

There was some substantial debate, but much of it was conjectural as we did not yet know what form Kessler is currently in.

Now that Bouadla has been disposed of, it's time to get some more informed perspective on how it would play out between these two ex-champions based on their recent comeback performances (against Alfonso Lopez and Mehdi Bouadla respectively).

Kessler via very one sided points decision. It wouldn't be nice to see to be perfectly frank.

Lopez was a tougher challenge than Bouadla. Kessler and Pavlik are about on the same level right now, but Kelly still hits harder. Pavlik KOs him late after making Kessler bleed again.

    Yeah, pretty much.

I'm sticking to my guns on Kessler by wide decision, but maybe a little more receptive to the idea of a late stoppage on just hellish accumulation (in the form of either a mercy towel wave by Jack, or a physician intercession due to severe cuts).

If it's a 12 rounder, the possibility for a stoppage opens up a little more. Neither has a world title belt, though (and it's difficult to imagine Pavlik would want to bother paying WBO sanctioning fees for the vacant "European title" Kessler picked up yesterday) so it might actually be a 10 rounder like Pavlik's last fight. In that case I'm very comfortable with my Kessler UD pick...although there will be scary moments where Pavlik's fans cringe at the amount of hard combinations he's taking. That said, Kessler's eye could get worked over by the jab and he might walk away with the win at a high cost (and looking for weeks like he'd been in a war).

I would rather see that long-overdue Pavlik-Abraham fight more though, but Kessler-Pavlik is pretty good too.

Why? Pavlik would annihilate Abraham. Either of them would.

Still like Pavlik to win on points, though Kessler looked good in his come back. Not exactly the greatest competition though

 I was wondering when you were going to make part 2.

I'd still take Kessler by UD.

Outside chance of a stoppage win.

you cannot be taken serious in anything you say. you suck the dick of the stars and stripes to such a degree, you will not give credit to anyone outside the USA.

you are bias as hell. kessler stops pavlik in about 8 or 9. and that's being generous to pavlik. he looked like **** last time out. the career of pavlik is pretty much done. :deal
