I have heard rumours that Gavin Rees will be fighting Willie Limond in a defence of his european title.

after watching gavin last night i believe that willie could outfox and beat rees. his stamina is really suspect after 6 rounds and i think that wiilie would keep it tight in the first 4-5 rounds then use his superior ringcraft to force out a fairly easy points win. i think making lightweight has really taken something out of rees because at light welter he could fight at a good pace for the full 12 rounds.

how do you see this fight going if it does go ahead?

Could be a good fight. I'd take Willie on points.

If Limond could take a couple of the first 6 then i hink he would win quite comfortably on points because Rees last to fights he has been really good for the first 6 then just gassed

Only trouble with willie is that he has stamina issues too... close fight to call, but if I had to pick a winner it would be Rees at this moment in time, but if Willie can take his best shots & not gas himself? I think he could sneak a decision.

aah come on, do I really need to answer that? Arthur, Khan, Morales. There I answered anyway.
I like Willie, hes a good fighter but Im only answering the question honestly. Hes a fine boxer but when he mixes at a high level stamina issues come into play with him.

In those 3 fights, Willie started great, but as the fights wore on he tired dramatically & was stopped each time. IMO, Rees is a good fighter, smart, & heavy handed. So in my opinion, which is just mine.... I fancy Rees to prevail, even though I will be cheering on Willie!

Remember, I was the man on ESB many moons ago who told this place that Limond would give Khan a major test, & I was laughed at by most. We all knew what happened then, & if it wasnt for Limond gassing & the infamous Khan 'long count'? He would have one helluva scalp on his record!

However Willie tired dramatically & had to be pulled out. In the big fights, willie tends to tire, just like Rees. Im only picking Rees cos he has the natural power.

last time i seen limond fight was O'hara(baring morales at altitude) many moons ago and he done the 10rounds fine and rees aint got the bang of Morales or Khan i actually think Limond would win giving his performance against a Morales who showed against Mandiana he still had plenty

Read my post again. I said fighting at a higher 'level' & with all due respect to O'hara, he wasnt a prime Alex Arthur, young Amir Khan or past his best ATG Erik Morales.

I hope you prove me wrong though!:deal
