How long would it take (to train at boxing) and be able to defend yourself?

I'm not going to respond to every point you made (because they're all equally ******ed) so I'll just respond to your "strongest" ones, for example, this argument that "You escalate the situation to a level he's not willing to play at" - Well excuse my language, but....how the **** do you know he isn't willing to escalate it?

Fair enough...so, judge you based on the advice given, advice such as:

That's quoted verbatim. I wonder how many professional fighters (that is, unlike yourself, people who've been in fights that go beyond Mortal Kombat) would say the same thing...I'm guessssssing, 0?

Well why would you escalate the situation! Why would you swim across the tide! Why would you put yourself in such a position!!! What you should've done was after getting hit in the face, RUN the opposite direction and call the authorities!

    ****ing hypocrite...

Rosa Parks could've heeded your advice when she was told to move to the back of the bus, I mean how silly of her to escalate the situation when she could have easily removed herself from the situation, even while knowing that **** will go down

It's not that they have no shame, it's that they have no real-world experience. They're operating up there in la-la land.
    Exactly!!!!!!

These guys just don't get it...they don't understand that some people are ****ed up and have a shitty mentality, a mentality where they have decided (in their heads) that "Today, I'm going to start a fight." People will start **** with you regardless of you act.

Once again, you're comparing yourself to people here which is pointless. We know what we are capable or not capable of and we act accordingly. You told us YOU can't fight well, yet YOU engage in fights. Simply stupid.

If you watch a stuntman perform a dangerous stunt but he tells you "don't try this at home!" do you get pissed and call him a ****ing hypocrite then go do it? No, because you know that just because he does something doesn't mean you can or should.

Wow. Comparing your situation to Rosa Parks just brought you to a new pathetic low.

What if he had a gun? I mean who is he, superman? And I'm not exactly impressed with his story (nevermind its validity), he hasn't proven he can fight (likewise for you)...he just tell stories that make him look like a hypocrite. I mean really, holding a guy down while 8 of his friends being present, LOL...I mean come on, 2 or 3 would've been believable.

I knew I'd get this dumb response to the Rosa Parks example, I should've prefaced it by saying that no, I'm not comparing anything to Rosa Parks...all I'm doing is applying some of your ******ed advice to another situation and trying to find out how you'd rationalize it.

But of course you can do what you've been doing pretty well, and that's ignore it :)

    I love you too <3

Really? I've had a guy walk straight up till he was an inch away from my face and threaten to kill me, guess what I did... I laughed at him and walked away. Another guy was threatening to come back with his friends and "do me over" because his girlfriend started arguing with me over a seat. I spoke to him and he ended up shaking my hand and apologising.

There's been many, many times in my life when I could have had fights but I'm not that immature and pathetic.

If a guy walks up and punches you, that's self defence, completely different to somebody walking up and insulting you so you insult him back and you start a fight which is what this is about.

Nobody can start a fight on you using words, somebody has to throw the first punch. If somebody comes over to you and doesn't throw a punch they don't have the balls to start the fight so want you to. Standing their arguing with the idiot until one of you hit each other makes you a ******.

I don't think you even understand what you're talking about.

AGAIN, this has NOTHING to do with it either way! Stop proving how stupid you are to everybody. You come here asking what YOU should do, but want turn it around and talk about what everyone else would do now? And someone who is a great fighter telling you to avoid confrontation is no different than someone who gets their ass kicked regularly telling you to avoid confrontation. Why can't you comprehend this!?
You also continue to prove why people hate you so much, because you can't even have a discussion without acting immature and name-calling like a little kid, so there's no point in anyone trying to be polite with you anymore.
Just go away and get your weak fairy ass kicked some more while ignoring everyone's advice. You're obviously not well liked on this message board because you act like a flaming *****. Stop wasting everyone's time.

Just to stop you right there, most of the guys here have real world experience.
Most of them are boxers, kick boxers, some are grapplers or judoka, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if a few of them have worked in security or law enforcement.

I train security officers in empty hand control and self-defence. The simplest advice (which I have already given you), is to avoid confrontation whenever you can. These are people getting paid to be involved in physical confrontations and we teach them to avoid them entirely unless it's absolutely necessary. Even when they're on the job, 90% of their work is non-physical.

The funniest part about this post is he doesn't realize how stupid it sounds. So you carry a knife, but you would never stab anyone, which gives me the impression that you only carry a knife (not for self defense) but presumably for intimidation.

Now I know this is going to be like thinking 3 moves ahead but, believe it or not, there is a chance that a knife won't intimidate him! I know! Impossible!

OH and uhh, keep trolling the other forums I'm on, saw your posts :) -- by the way for a super-good boxer who's known to destroy hoodlums carrying drumsticks you sure have a lot of time to spend online arguing.

I can almost picture you crying while writing this post

    That's assumption, not fact

In the middle-east there are people who argue for mandatory niqab's for women...an example they'll give is if a potential ****** is around the corner, and he see's two women; one in a niqab and another scantily clad, who would he ****? Do you see the fallacy in this argument? Instead of blaming the one who initiated the crime, they try to place blame on the victim (that is, the women) as instigators.

That's essentially what few of the keyboard-warriors here have painted, creating this image that I'm a cocky gay guy who goes around the city whipping out my ***** and getting blowjobs by my boyfriend in public. The reality is I've avoided 10x as many fights than fights I couldn't avoid, and if that's because I don't take **** from anyone then so be it.

What the hell are you talking about?

I haven't mentioned your sexuality once, beyond what was relevant to this discussion, if you want to use that as your life raft to get out of this **** storm, then by all means use it, but do yourself a favour and take away at least one piece of advice given to you in this thread.

Walking away from a fight is always the best option, regardless of what damage you think it does to your pride/dignity/honour/self-esteem/self-image or whatever. Remaining in a situation that is headed for trouble is just ignorant, arrogant and could be outright dangerous.

You can play the martyr all you want, on the internet people will talk a lot of **** and call you names, they'll threaten you and say all kinds of terrible things. In the real world, which you seem so fond of, someone will eventually call you out on it. Occasionally you'll win, occasionally you'll lose. One day, if you're unlucky enough, you're going to get seriously injured or killed, but at least your dignity will be in tact.
