Thats somehow true. His team cherrypicked opponents, because the award was too big to risk that much. However he stayed active and at least fought against big guys (still decent Grant, and punching bag McBride).
He's pretty crap as a HW, and the fact he is fighting for a title says more about the division than Adamek. VK will punish him, unless VK is suddenly shot to bits. The only fight out there that is attractive for him is against Haye, as size wise it's not a huge mismatch. ..but otherwise.. I'd of rather seen him stay at CW and rule the division.
My foughts exactly... Loved Adamek as a LHW and CW but at HW he has no pop whatsoever. Haye has bored me senseless in his fights with SNV and the first 2 rounds against Audley but with Haye you atleast know that at any point he could unload a right hand and take his man out... watching Adamek at HW is like watching a little boy throwing marshmellows at a wall. Would love to see Haye v Adamek though.... Adamek would play the aggressor in that fight and make a real fight of it... problem is I see Hayes speed and power combined being the downfall for Adamek due to him not being the hardest to hit, especially when he fights off of the front foot.
Against Estrada, Arreola he was entertaining as hell- both awesome fights. The Grant fight was very good, but the recent fight against that Irish fat ass was dreadful.
Yeah sure, and what do you have then? Povetkin who fights only during a certain galactic alignment, Haye who fights bums, Chagaev who is shot to bits, Solis with ****ed knees, Arreola straight out of taco bell, and the K bros (probably only fighters worth watching). Adamek brought some good fights to HW, and it is nice to see such an active fighter. However his career will end with VK.
I find him boring as well. Loved him at cruiser though, wish he stayed there since he doesn't have a hope in hell at heavy with going life and death vs the likes of shot old Grant.
I think you meant to say in this thread that his opponents are boring. He hasn't changed much. He still is the same warrior and workhorse. He just HAS to adjust to the size of the heavyweights now. It needs to be done for him to win because of the size differential. His opponents are the boring ones that aren't really pressing on him, so he is using his gameplan of in and out. He'll keep winning on the scorecards with that. It's not all about ko's. Adamek would happily exchange a slugfest back in the day with the weak cw's. I think adamek vs haye would change your mind of Adamek being a boring fighter. That's just nonsense.
Not at all.. I'm on pins and needles watching him take shots from big guys with big power and still boxing them up...
Gotta agree. I'm hoping Adamek goes back to cruiser after Vitali is finished with him. Adamek/Cunningham coulda/shoulda been a trilogy that made both of them into stars. However the fault is not all Adamek's. There were no money fights for him at cruiserweight. Tarver wouldn't fight....RJJ probably wasn't interested either. Hopkins offered Adamek 500K for a shot at the Ring/IBF cruiser title but that was considered too low by Team Adamek...I wish he'd have taken it If Adamek loses to Vitali he should go back to cruiser. He'll still have his name and notoriety but he can make more interesting fights at 200.
There's no chance he will go back to cruiserweight. None. He feels this is his natural weight and he isn't going to starve himself to drop 20 pounds and keep it that way. That's just stupid.
