Has Hopkins officially earned the title "Greatest Middleweight Ever"

    What Hopkins did from 1990-2004, dominating the middleweight division, make him the greatest middleweight ever IMO. Moreover, I don't think it's even close.

    And if you're suggesting he's the greatest fighter to fight as a middleweight, he aint even in the top ten of that list.

    Hopkins title reign at Middleweight had numbers but the opposition wasn't too good.

    Great Middleweight - He's lucky if he gets in the top 10 - he didn't fight anybody apart from Roy Jones and he lost that one.

    What he does at a higher weight means nothing. He ignored Super Middleweight for years dispite having bigger paydays there.

    Hopkins knows how to box and has a great chin and is a mind player. That being said he also has the physical advantages with is height and reach to beat any MW in history. Being a successful world champion at MW at an advance age speaks volumes too.

    He only really became a champ in 2001 and ruled for 4 years. He's behind robinson, hagler, monzon, greb and zale for sure.

    The biggest reason Hopkins was able to have such a large amount of success was the fragmentation of the divisions. In other eras, there wasn't 154 and 168lbs who would be challanging for the middleweight title, which is part of the reason why Hopkins was able to dominate so quietly and for such a long time. For the majority of his reign, he fought nobody. He could have down up in weight to chase the glory but he chose not to and now he's left with a remarkably long list of defences yet you look at it and it's such a poor list. The two best middleweights he ever fought gave him a total of three losses.

    Actually, Hopkins became a champion in 1995, and ruled the Middleweight division for an entire decade. He went undefeated (20-0) during his prime, from 1995-2004. There is no disputing those facts.
