Look how close he got to get taken out that night especially after morales with one eye almost beat maidana im starting to question his power either he doesnt punch as hard or morales is even tougher then I thought.
Khan should rematch maidana in early 2012 when he reaches his prime and stop him, if he is good enough to dominate all the 140 guys then he should move up, right now im worried about him.

I agree, Ortiz is a better technical boxer than Maidana. However, Khan was fighting a fight against Maidana that he usually doesnt follow. He was trading and hanging out his chin too much so that he could prove a point. Plus he was trying to get more support in the US by being entertaining.

A fight against Ortiz will be a much more technical affair. You wont see a lot of slugging out there but more technical fight and careful, especially from Khan.

This fight has to happen. Khan schooled Ortiz in the amateurs but Ortiz's style is more suited to the pros. It would be a gruelling war indeed but I favour Khan to take it. Wouldn't be surprised to see them trade a knockdown or two. Khan's speed will just prove to be too much for Ortiz though.

This is one of the best fights to be made in boxing right now. The mesh of styles would work beautifully.

With his size and frame, he should ideally move up to WW. His punch resistence has already improved moving up to LWW. Im sure with stronger legs, he wil be able to withstand the power and add some more punching power of his own.

I think the power is real, Morales is really just a bad ass and anticipated those hard punches and it prepared him for the impact. Morales is on another level in terms of skills which allowed him to survive the fight.

Ortiz on the other hand is actually on the level with Maidana's skillset. Yes he looks more technical, but its not elite technical. Khan on the otherhand is also on another level, which is higher imo, and should Ortiz fail to capitalize on the early rounds, i see Khan winning it by UD.

yeah but the guys also punch harder, and if his defense isnt better then it is now he will get hit with hard punches, he cant get sloppy at 147.
khan seems like a natural welterweight and he is talented so it should work out, they just need to time it right when he moves up.

Could very well be, ortiz seems more accurate then maidana though and he is also bigger, If I had to put money on it I would say that both ortiz and berto stop him at this point, if khan keeps improving then this would change more in his favour.

I think its relative, for him going up in weight should improve all his own assets to cope with the bigger guys.

We will see a more disciplined Khan against Zab and then possibily against Bradley. The Maidana fight was his eye catching fight in the US and its successfully given him a big name........

Oh for sure, the outcome will depend a lot on how Khan decides to fight ortiz, if he tries to trade, he'll get the worse of it. He'll probably try to fight the way he fought Kotelnik, still... You can be sure the Ortiz will really try to lay on the pressure on Khan, how successful he will be is the real question here. If he can close the distance effectively, it's gona be a long hard night for Khan, if not Khan has the speed and length to keep scoring from the outside and get a decision.

Pre-burto every one of this forum would say Khan with ease! Now after 1 fight with a hype job Ortiz is the next p4p star?!?!? Come on guys wake up! Im also a massive Khan fan but if you looked at Ortiz in his last fight and look at him vs Peterson he fought very different! He tooks shots alot better! Now lets see what khan's like at 147 then decide! If Khan makes the same degree of improvements Ortiz makes then Khan wins all day long! Khan would keep Ortiz at bay with the jab all night! Burto let Ortiz in that is how he failed. But this is the fight of 2014 when these 2 guys are p4p stars! i dont want to see this happen just yet! Let both guys get 2 titles at 147 then maybe fight.

You are right, it depends on how Ortiz deals with Khans jab/speed and be able to close the distance for him to connect. Also will Khans jab/power be enough to make Ortiz think twice?

Hopefully both fighters wont lose this year so a potential matchup is organised in 2012.
