broke his right hand in the 2nd round vs valuev..... haye nearly took valuev's head clean off with his left in the 11th or 12th..... if he never broke his right hand early doors it would have been a different fight..... lets have it right, its not a hard job to knock wlad out now is it.
This 'broke his hand' myth is strange though. Haye claimed that he deliberately didn't throw many punches against Valuev because he broke his hand in the 3rd round. Yet his punch output wasn't much different than in the 1st two rounds where his hands were presumably fine :think
Aint seen anyone get close to landing a hard punch on him since 2005. Also remember Haye has been down before against guys who dont hit anywhere near as hard as Wlad.
Yeah he averaged 14 punches a round and then claimed afterwards that the tactics were spot onWhether he hurt his hand or not he was always going to be on his bike not throwing much in fear of going after Valuev,punching himself out and being unable to hurt him. Against guys like Barrett and Ruiz he can go all out. 46 year old Holyfield showed its easy to beat the big man.
Oh yeah I don't blame his tactics much and I still thought he won clearly. I just don't think it's much of an excuse (even if it's true) as his gameplan was obviously to try and nick the rounds potshotting and staying out of distance. He was never gonna throw even 50 punches a round with or without band hands.
