    I found Ring of Hate a better book on the subject, some reviews I've read did too. Think I remember one review in Ring I think that complained that Beyond Glory was a bit of a hatchet job on Schmeling, not sure I agreed but seem to remember preferring the other book

    The Randy Roberts one is good, as is the Roger Kahn one 'Flame of Pure Fire'

    For some more specific ones 'Kid Blackie' which focuses on his early days fighting in mining camps, and also 'Dempsey in Nevada' which is a very specific one that also features his early days but also goes into detail around some his fight promotions with Max Baer
