Sales for Mayweather?

 

That's damn good considering it's against an opponent coming off of two bad performances and widely perceived as shot. There's little doubt he would have equaled Mayweather's number if he got to Mosley before Mayweather did. To me, this proves that they're about equal draws.

Now, if Pacquiao wants to actually outsell Mayweather, he should try fighting someone who hasn't already been publicly embarrassed by another fighter. I'm curious to see how Marquez sells.

2nd.... As I stated before and I will state it again, if Manny fought a Nobody bum on PPV it would out sell Mayweather fighting a bum on PPV based on how Manny fights.

Problem with Mayweather and what kicks him in the ass time and time again, he has the mouth of a Tyson, But doesnt fight the way he talks, He would be more respected if he took the Andre Ward approach to be honest with you.

So when it comes down to it, if he is on PPV fighting a Nobody, the attitude he brings during the pressers, will not sell the fight, if anything they will hurt the numbers becuase time and time again fans know with Mayweather involved likely your not going to have an exciting fight, it will usally be a saftey first type of a fight, Floyd dosent go in for the kill unless its clear he has his man hurt.
That is the problem he doesnt take enough risk, Look at the Bladomir fight, he could have done more but was content with a points win and fans dont pay to see that..

 

Floyd's timing is better when it comes to choosing opponents.

This why there's a lot of exaggeration about how big of a draw Mayweather is. You can't ignore the numbers but a key issue is, he relies on his opponent a lot more than Pacquiao does. In every fight, you have the guy you want to see and the guy you want to see get beat. That's how promotion works. Pacquiao, as the guy people want to see, is therefore able to fight much lesser opponents and still draw money because people will get what they want to see which is Pacquiao beating someone up. As for Mayweather, he needs a credible opponent to sell a fight because casual fans need more than to see a flash boxer dance for 12 rounds. For Mayweather to sell a fight, he needs to be against someone who can beat him whereas Pacquiao doesn't.

I think the difference between them in that sense is why it's ignorant to look at the numbers and say "Mayweather is a bigger draw". The numbers are deceptive to a certain extent because Mayweather's PPV's will always have two attractions whereas Pacquiao is drawing because he's Pacquiao.
