Jones beat a lot of southpaws at LHW who were for the most part, pretty limited compared to Byrd.

He struggled with southpaw Eric Harding.

He was dropped hard by southpaw Lou De Valle.

He won a very close decision over southpaw Antonio Tarver, he was also stopped by and decisioned by Tarver.

Byrd could handle Jones best punches rather easily. Byrd was very accurate, very elusive, had great defense, great speed, a great chin, and was much stronger than most realize. He also had a good jab. He was more technical than Jones.

    I think it's a pick-em fight and I would lean toward Byrd.

Byrd by close decision or late KO. He was a very dangerous fighter for big HW's, blown-up Jones wouldnt hurt him.

He was dropped by Del Valle and thats about all that happened in that fight it was a great timed shot that could have happened by any fighter. I dont remember him struggling with Harding either.

I never said he struggled with Del Valle... it was a very good knockdown though.

Harding gave him fits in my opinion. Harding did well and it sucked that he could not continue after round 10 due to an injured arm. Did you really see this fight? Jones said that Harding was his most difficult opponent up to that point. Harding had beat Montell Griffin and Antonio Tarver among others.

It was a winnable fight for Jones but let's face it Byrd had skills unlike Ruiz and it was too big of a risk for Jones he always took the path of least resistance.
If I had to pick I would say Byrd by late stoppage Jones has an awful Chin and Byrd hung in there and beat guys who were much bigger and tougher than Jones ever was.
