It depends on how defensive Wlad and Haye are. If Wlad is over cautious and just jabs for most of the fight and Haye fights a simular Valuev fight, then this can become a very drawn out fight. If either boxer connects, will they be able to follow it up and finish it off? Out of the two, Haye will most likely want to end it early, as hes geared up as a fighter to fight short and explosive. Its just his punch accuracy is a little off and to KO or floor Wlad, he will need to hit him at least 3 to 4 times in quick succession.
By the way, just to back up what I said, apparently Wlad has been working on his jab and clinching fighters on the inside. Like I said, he's just going to work to his own strengths not Haye's weaknesses. That could be, against a perfect gameplan, a huge mistake.
This is going to be a boring fight with neither man willing to risk it to get the KO. It will go typical Wlad fashion a slow jab fest till the late rounds when Haye can't see well and is tired and Wlad will finally land a KO right hand ending the fight in the 11th...
I wouldn't think of too many comparisons with the Valuev fight, which was similar to the Abdoul bout. Valuev has a granite chin and Haye fought with that in mind. Look at Haye against weak chinned opponents. He is always the first to strike.
Remember though that unlike vs. Barrett and Ruiz in this fight Haye will have a serious reach disadvantage. Vs. Barrett and Ruiz Haye could stand in the distance and wait for them to come forward at him, then Haye was able to pick his shots while countering them with little risk of being hit himself. Against Wlad Haye will constantly be out of range while being with range of Wlad's jab and long straight right. Wlad won't need to make a step forward to get into range to land his shots (like Ruiz had to). I understand Haye's idea may be to dodge Wlad's shots, then make a quick step forward and land a punch or two. It's the only plan that works for Haye IMO but timing and accuracy will have to be spot on while Wlad must be completely careless.
You mean like against glass-chinned Audley Harrison? Yes he was the first to strinke, but Haye didn't throw a *SINGLE PUNCH* during the first 2 rounds ... a full six minutes. Haye was overly cautious and will be the same against Wlad :deal
Spot on Jack! Good way to look at the fight. I have to agree with you. I know i have said in loads of post look at Haye in the first round againts Ruiz but it just shows Haye avoiding the jab and the right. Its hard to dictate how Haye will performe against Wlad as like i said in a previous post and you clearly state Haye sticks to the gameplan VERY well! Every fight he has had we have seen a different Haye. I posted a story for another Website its my prediction on this fight ill post it see what you guys think.
:good I would support that gameplan for Wlad, stick to what's worked over the years. Wlad's jab is his key to victory, Haye's speed and timing are his keys.
I thought I would write about a fight that is due to happen July 2nd 2011 in Germany called WAR. It’s a fight we have been asking for since 2009 but neither guy ever signed the dotted line due to boxing politics. It’s a fight of two great men wanting to show the world they are the best that heavyweight boxing has to offer. Wladimir Klitschko is making yet another defence of his world titles and is going to try to unify the heavyweight division against a young hungry current world champion David Haye. I thought I would start with breaking both fighters down then share my prediction with you on this fight. Before I start I can’t explain how excited about this fight I am! It’s a fight of two guys in their prime fighting some one who is a style nightmare for them. Wladimir aka Dr Steel Hammer Klitschko: Won 55 with 49 ending in a KO while only suffering 3 losses. His KO percentage is fantastic at 84%. 33 of his KO’s have been within 6 rounds and he currently holds 4 of the major world titles. His last loss was in 2004 and has remained undefeated and hardly challenged for over 7 years! After suffering 3 shocking losses which saw Wladimir crawling around the ring looking at his corner in fear reached out for help from the great Emanuel Steward. This was a great move! Wladimir suddenly became a defensive fighter with one of the best p4p jabs of all time. Unfortunately this has made him very boring to watch but since has not shown any signs of losing any fight he has been in! He has controlled the pace of the fight while keeping the other guy at bay with a sharp, powerful head rocking jab. Wearing the other guy out and destroying them with that devastating right hand. Now let me tell you some years ago Emanuel was so shocked by Wladimir’s power and one punch KO potential he made him spar in 20oz gloves during sparing as he would KO every one that dared to enter the ring. He is a gentleman of the sport and reminds me of the young Timothy Bradley. He is very humble and has nothing but praise for who ever he fights. But you can’t help but think it’s all mind games he plays to unsettle his fighters. Wladimir does have some weaknesses! Firstly you have to question his chin. That there for me is the biggest issue. Has Wladimir gotten to comfortable at the top? Does he now think he is indestructible? When a guy is hyped as much as he is they start to believe it and when you start to get young, fresh hungry talent coming through the ranks you should start to think about your own abilities and how you can adapt. Wladimir tends to have trouble with pressure fighters that have speed as we saw in the Corrie Sanders fight but to be fair his defence has massively improved since then. Then we have David aka Hayemaker Haye: Won 25 with 23 ending in KO while only suffering 1 loss. His KO percentage also is fantastic at 88%. 19 of his KO’s have been within 6 rounds and currently holds the WBA belt. David has rocked the boxing world with his charm which is not to everyone’s taste and the impact he has made in this division over the last few years. He first tested the water in 2007 by destroying Tomasz Bonin in only 1 round but decided to unify the division before the move up in weight. Over the next year David went into Mormeks back garden and won by KO in 7 rounds to become the world champion. Then come the big British shown down. Enzo Maccarinelli a guy at the time many said would beat David. In the build up many said this would end in a KO and neither guy was going to let any one down! David won by TKO in the 2nd round to unify the cruiser weight division with many saying he could be the next Holyfield. Then came the big step! David entered the heavyweight division screaming at the top of his voice about how he will unify the division! Chasing Wladimir through a shopping mall calling him out! Since David has fought some quality guys! The likes of John Ruiz who has only ever been stopped once. To the biggest heavyweight of all time Nicolay Valuev and winning the WBA world championship. David has some amazing talent! He is very fast and he is a great counter puncher. He has shown he has a lot of power for example the first round against John Ruiz with a simple one/two combination managed to put Ruiz down. He was the first man to rock Valuev a fight in which many thought he would lose. He does also have weaknesses. You could question his chin. He has never been KO'd but has been put down a few times over the years. Personally I would not have called the knock down against Barret a knock down, more of a slip. His conditioning could be called into question and he seems to struggle in the later rounds and keeps a very low guard which can make him easier to hit. He relies on head movement too much but against a guy with Wladimir's power that may be a very dangerous move. I think the fight will start slow. Haye will be bobbing his head around trying to see what success he has in slipping Wladimir jab. We wont see much action for the first 3 rounds as both fighters display too much respect for each other knowing at any stage the could be laying on there back wondering what has just happened. One thing is for sure this fight will end in a KO. So my predictions for what is the biggest heavyweight fight of many years. David Haye will win by TKO in round 8. I think Haye will be able to slip and counter Wladimir and has the power to KO Wladimir! I do think Haye may have some scary moments during this fight as Wladimir’s European style makes it very hard to land clean shots. But Haye carries the speed and athleticism to win this fight.
I agree with your first post completely especially the gameplan point, however I see both fighters being extremely cautious for the first 6 and Haye stopping him between rounds 7-10
