I love Winky, but at 168 he gets mauled by Pavlik I think especially after all the lay offs he's had.

Would be better if Winky had a tune up first but I am ok with it.

Winky's style is so defensive, I can't see him beating even this version of Pavlik.

    Especially after the long layoff.

If Im Pavlik, Im all over this fight. It will pay, put a HOFer on his record, and get him one step closer to his old greatness.

Im not sure what would benifit Pavlik more... Another Tough Bout for 10 rounds or a KO in 5? Thats why I say it would be a confidence builder to KO Winky, but at the same time He still probably needs Rounds, Tough rounds!

[Let me start with a disclaimer: I'm a Winky Wright fan, and have been FOR YEARS. In his prime he was one of the most impressive defensive fighters that I can recall, and my boxing memories go back to a time when most of you hadn't even been born. Whenever someone brings up that tired old drag about Winky being boring, man, I'm all over that ****. Winky Wright is far from boring. I think Wright just misses ATG status, but he most certainly belongs in the IBHOF!]

Now for the part that will get me flamed in spite of my disclaimer.

All of the history between these two indicates that Winky Wright is scared shitless of Kelly Pavlik, and always has been! When Kelly was on his way up, in the early years, he could still make 154, and Winky was still The Champ. Kelly called Winky out a dozen times. Winky always found a reason not to fight.

Right after Kelly beat Jermain, Winky had the audacity to accuse Kelly of ducking him. When asked about fighting Winky, KP said, "Winky Wright? He's a little guy that doesn't hit very hard. I'd love to spend a few rounds smackin' Winky around the ring." Arum advised Winky to make a fight with Sturm, and come back to the table with the WBA title. Arum had plans for a "Super Fight." Winky took no action.

In the summer of 2008, when it became obvious that Calzaghe would not fight Pavlik, Pavlik and Arum tried to get Winky in the ring yet again. Winky turned down a $1.4 million dollar guarantee, and a cut of PPV sales, the live gate, and ancillary monies.

Anytime between 2005 and 2008 Kelly would have put another "L" on Winky's record, but the "offensive beast vs the defensive master" aspect of the event would have made for an interesting show. Today, at 168, Kelly would hurt Winky, and it would not be fun to watch. It would be about as competitive as Larry Holmes versus Marvis Frazier, but I don't think Kelly is anywhere near as compassionate as Larry was.

Mark my words: Winky may love to talk about Kelly, but he has no intentions of fighting KP.

Winky wouldn't fight Pavlik claiming he wouldn't make enough money when Kelly was champ. What the hell does he think he would make now? Even if Kelly fought for free it would be less than he turned down in the past. All mouth in my opinion.
