Not to mention how much this fight will take out of floyd if a possessed ortiz shows up + how this will affect him shall he face pac.
I disagree about his 12 round stamina: in that Peterson fight he started off golden and fizzled out so bad. you could tell with Berto it was the success of the early rounds that kept him on top, but he you could almost feel himself thinking, "just this time, don't fade, keep it on him, you've got it." I think that is an exceptional one of a time performance that limited success chasing floyd will make him much more tired. Madaina, Peterson, and a few other longer fights he has been really mediocre after his fast good starts, and Mayweather is about 500 times harder to hit than Berto. BUT every southpaw May fights eventually lands the straight left at least once:good
if ortiz lands clean like mosley did i can see him drop mayweather. and because he is fighting mayweather he will try even harder to get him out of there
If other southpaws have been able to touch up Floyd, then why is Victor the exception? That doesn't compute. Floyd is older, is barely in the ring anymore, and I believe his skills have diminished just enough to allow Victor to pull this off. Victor is as confident as ever after his win over Berto, and you can't deny the guy is talented. Plus, he is probably the biggest, strongest guy Floyd has been in the ring with. He's bigger and possibly stronger than DLH, and he's a southpaw. I just see Floyd having problems in this fight if Victor is able to impose his will like he did against Berto. Floyd just doesn't throw enough punches anymore to discourage Victor from launching an offensive assault. The only thing that will possibly hinder Ortiz is if the moment is too big for him, and he freezes up and doesn't try and impose his will against Floyd. If he fights Floyd's fight from a distance, and allows Floyd to dictate the pace, and tries to become the counter puncher, then he's just hurting his natural abilities and his best chance at a win. But, I don't think he does that. I think he blitzes Floyd, and ends it.
I knew it wouldn't be long before someone said something along this lines. It's possible but very very very unlikely...
I'm rooting for Floyd too, and praying the south paw doesn't get just lucky enough to make him question fighting another one who is quicker. Floyd's skills >>>>>>> Ortiz youth and power but he has to be careful, his defense is leaky against left handers, for real. Luckily he has great instincts. He should be able to break Ortiz down late and shut him down after a few close early rounds.
worst case scenario is that Ortiz gets lucky against Floyd, somehow gets lucky against Pac, then takes a rematch with Madaina and gets sparked out cold. Then the psuedo elite fighter with the worst skills on the planet will have come out on top.
thing is, I read the same thing earlier today from another mental deficient. So I'll remember him before you.
All that has happened is that BERTO was exposed not that ortiz was reborn as some amazing world beater.Floyd will UD him easy and possible tko.
Who says Floyd is barely in the ring anymore? Everyday of his life is like a training camp for another fighter. The fact that Victor fights very aggressive without any defense or movement plays right into the hands of Floyd. Lamont Peterson came back from being hurt to completely outboxing Victor for a draw. People got all excited and said the same things about Gatti and Hatton. Their too big and too aggressive for Floyd. In reality Floyd was the bigger and stronger man and cutt those guys up. I'm hoping this is an awesome fight, but I'm worried Victor will become very discouraged when he's not able to land clean punches on Floyd and eats alot of hard counters in return.
ok so if ortiz wins then mayweather is overated if your saying ortiz is not world class then if he beats mayweather. what does that make mayweather
No, Mayweather has proven over and over he is a greater fighter than Ortiz in every way except power. It just so happens that he is at the age and inactivity where sometimes freakish things occur in boxing. He has a history of getting hit by the straight left, so that opens up the chance for a huge left handed puncher to get lucky, but it really would be just that, getting lucky.
