I dont get what your issue is with Mayweather taking this fight, This is not a bad selection at all, Ortiz is the welter weight right now outside of Pacquiao to beat. and Since Manny and Floyd havent agreed, and Manny decided to grab old man marquez, Floyd did the right thing by picking up this fight.
Had Manny taken this fight this would have been a good move for him at this stage... Perhaps Ortiz doesnt meet the requirment of being an old man though and Maybe thats why we have Marquez Pacquiao to look forward to.

Either way to talk **** about this fight is just another way for you to admit that your not a fan of the sport...

 

Ortiz being thre third best WW just speaks how badly the WW division is now that Pac's beaten most of the top.

Had Manny taken the Ortiz fight, I'd say the same thing. Ortiz isn't 'all of a sudden a threat' just because he beat Berto. Berto's reign as WW titlist was a sham anyway. But probably legit to you.

Besides *******, my beef isn't all on this fight, it's with you fanboys who now act as if this is a real fight for floyd, or that Ortiz somehow erased his past by beating a hyped WW in Berto. It's just another tune up.

Bull****, Maidana was walking him down and battering him until Ortiz quit, the knockdowns Ortiz scored were all flash ones and Maidana got right back up. If anything it was Maidana's clubbing blows that were having the biggest affect.

I like Ortiz and I think 147 is the better weight for him, but Maidana deserves a lot of credit for that victory.

 

Manny hasnt beatn all the top, Mosley was shot, Margarito did he really deserve the fight according to all the fans? and should he have been considered a legit fighter after his scandal you could tech look at his entire career and question all of it.
That leaves Clottey and Cotto, and lets be real Cotto was probably his best win recently out of the bunch. No dirt on Cotto to discredit his acheivements in the sport. Clottey hasnt done **** in this sport except look good lossing.

Your not going to sit back and argue that Hatton and DLH hold water, Floyd beat both of them first. and didnt have to bring Oscar down in weight to do it.
Now Ortiz is the top welter right now, outside of Floyd and Pac....Like it or not the Pac fight isnt happening so this fight makes the most sense.
And regarding him being a threat, Anybody who can bang is a threat to anybody, especially when someone is comming off of a long lay off and facing that.
Do I view Ortiz as a threat? I think Floyd turns this into a repeat of Corrales Mayweather, but thats my take on it. but still just because Floyd is that good, does not mean Ortiz is not rightfully the best welterweight out there to fight today outside of Pacquiao.

This is the ****ing issue I have, you dog this type of fight yet praise a bull**** Marquez Pacquiao fight, which Everybody knows that doesnt make sense. you praise fights like Mosley vs Pacquiao etc..

 

This is something like Yuri Foreman who many were saying was to big for Manny and even Roach said it. He suddenly became a legit threat until Cotto beat him and then everyone change their mind. Maybe if Manny was going to face Ortiz he will be a legit threat right? Stop the hating and give Floyd props for stepping up once again in this weight division. He is taking on a young kid who is in his prime and improve a good deal and is very confident. And also give Ortiz props, the guy has been fighting some good opponents since his lost to Maidana.

Ortiz is rank where in the division at this moment? Other than Manny who will you rank higher than him at 147 right now? Nate Campbell, Vivian Harris, Lamont Peterson, Andres Berto is not good enough for you after the Maidana lost that will have affected any fighter?

 

Berto couldn't do **** against Ortiz, Ortiz looked like a monster in that fight but Mayweather will school him and after that he will school Pacquiao
