Roy Jones Jnr and his no legacy would have knocked Calzaghe into a Lacy like bloody pulp had they met prime on prime at 168.

Oh, the hate of Calzaghe will never end. A white guy who looks like he should be a waiter beat your hero's and you still can't accept it. boo hoo

It is OK bigots, as you mature your hate will diminish.

roy jones was a american hype job but he was the best america had to offer he is a american atg all the fighters he ducked were europeans so he has no legacy in europe

joe calzaghe beat every fighter america had to offer in his era

when calzaghe, hopkins and jones fought they had a combined age of 119

SO WHAT.....these aint old fighter's they are legends:thumbsup:thumbsup

If you want to use RING's rankings as a basis for assessment of Calzaghe's career and longevity, here you go.

He won the title in 1997.

    1998 RING SMW #2

    1999 RING SMW #2

    2000 RING SMW #2

    2001 RING SMW #2

    2002 RING SMW #1

    2003 RING SMW #1

    2004 RING SMW #1

    2005 RING SMW #1

    2006 RING SMW #1

    2007 RING SMW #1

    2008 RING LHW #1

That seems like a fair stretch to be perched at the top of the ladder.

Nah! Jeff Lacy was, he was gonna smash Joe according to every american on here. Hype is something that is eventuallly proved wrong in my eyes and Calzaghe timed his retirement right, plus his hands gave up on him ages ago. Sven Ottke was **** by the way and is no comparion to the greats in the SMW's.

Yawn!!! Calzaghe was a great fighter and what's done is done. He could of done more but other ATG fighters have done less. His opponents may not have been ranked in the top 10 by the ring but there are several organisations that share those rankings and they would have featured on the WBO's rankings.
The fact of the matter is we all know he took on too many mandatories and we All know what honest Frank warrn is like when it comes to protecting his fighters but towards the end of his career at least he began to take risks and the b-hop fight at least has now been proven a decent test.

Also, of the fighters named, how many of those were coming directly off loses because manfredo certainly wasn't.

It's so easy to be bias. That is not the attitude of a fan of boxing but one of a hater. At least try to be objective. No one has 21 defences , unifies a division and becomes a two weight champ without being a good if not great fighter. You're probably the sane sort if guy who was singing the praises of the dawson's and pvlik's of this world a couple if years ago and what exactly have they gone onto?
