Margarito vs Ortiz @ a catchweight of 151. Who wins and how?

margarito would bring more pressure and workrate than maidana has brought. ortiz could start well and could rack up rounds until margarito takes control. ortiz' beard could have improved taking shots at welter or higher but he would still get a beating. ortiz would show his heart this time and go down fighting. mid to late stoppage for margo.

 

Ortiz very well may fold under the pressure but we don't know for sure where his mentality is at, he was just a kid against Maidana and he took some big bombs vs Berto but just kept coming.

 

Margarito would stop Ortiz easily

 

I like Ortiz and believe he is a talented and legit top guy.... BUt Margarito is all wrong for him.. A much bigger,Tougher,stronger and harder hitting Maidanal.. Ortiz looks good and lays some big leather on Margo butt old concrete head still does his share of damage and by the mid rounds is hurting Ortiz and busting him up... Margo comes from behind to stop Ortiz... . Margo tko 10

However styles make fights and i think Ortiz would be a tougher matchup for Mayweather than Margo would.

I dont think Ortiz would last with pac the way Margo did but i do, feel he would be more competetive with Manny. (if that dont make sense think about it).

 

Margarito only has a better chin......

 

in this fight Margo....he has the better chin and hits harder between the two.

Interesting you should say that, Brother K. Because during the pre-fight Margo/Cotto talk, I said I thought Margarito would win but that stylistically Cotto would stand a much better chance with Floyd than Margo anyway. Ortiz is a much tougher challenge to Mayweather than Margo ever was, imo. Based on styles.

 

You might be right.....for more reasons than one.

And i agree with you and Kirk...style wise to me...Ortiz would pose a tougher challenge than Margo.
