    I agree.

Although he is probably a level or two below Martinez, he cant just let the opportunity go by without giving it a shot. Its not as if he's a complete novice, he's had 23 pro fights and is an unbeaten British & European champ.

Ok chances are he loses the fight, but even if he does lose at least he can gain confidence from being in a world title fight and kick on from there.

So you are the European champion and may have a chance at winning the world title but would turn it down because you might lose?

He might lose to someone else that isn't the world champion and then never get another chance.

If you lose, get back on the horse. Simple as that.

It must be a really hard choice for Barker he could wait for Geale later this year or go for the best in division. If he does take the fight which i think he will, he deserves alot of credit.

Barker's next fight is July 23rd and has a voulantry defence of his european title. So i doubt it will be a high level fighter so i doubt he's going to lose. There's talk of him fighting Geale later this year which is a winnable fight for Barker.

He should take it if it's offered for sure. When else is he gonna get the chance to fight THE middleweight world champion?

Ok so he probably loses and loses badly but what if he doesn't? What if he somehow manages to pull off a great upset or makes the fight close?

I really don't see Barker getting oblitorated by Sergio Martinez. Martinez knocked one guy out quickly....one guy. all his other big fights have gone rounds.

barker isn't on that level and he is not ready to rise to that occassion. martinez shouldnt even be thinking about barker. maybe macklin, should he beat sturm.

Yes it does. Sergio mentions Barker and Geale as potential opponents.

Martinez bad fight for Barker, easier world champions to go for, then fight Martinez down the line. If Macklin wins, fight Macklin, great fight in britain, fight normal world champs first then elite later, otherwise he will never be able to call himself world champ.

Barker should take the fight. It would be an unlikely victory but realistically he's never going to get much further in boxing than he has already.
