Floyd is the first boxing champion in history to fight 3 straight fighters who were ranked in the P4P when he fought them ( SSM, JMM, Hatton). All three were coming off impressive victories and linear champions. When Floyd fought DLH it was the biggest money fight in history and Oscar was the the number # 1 JMW and coming off an impressive victory. Ortiz is the 8 th world champion in 9 fights for Floyd. Ortiz is a young 24 yr old world champion who has fought on HBO several times and has some impressive victories as of late. We all know the weight drain, old, shot and coming of a loss fighters Pacman been fighting for years lately. Floyd fights have substance!

Also, it amazing how Floyd gets negative press and gets hated on but still out sells Pacman in all of his fights. This fight will be no exception.

mayweather could fight me and you would still hype it up and think its relevant. The problem with floyd is always who he didnt fought, if he isnt going to fight pac his legacy will hurt, trust on that. With that said ortiz is a good fight and im happy he picked him as his next opponent instead of some spadafora bull**** or even tim bradley.

If Mayweather beats Ortiz, does that improve his legacy at 130lbs? Maybe push him to #1 at 130lbs All-Time?

yeah having tune-up fights every year without fighting the "very best" is relevant. after this "tune-up" we would wait until next year for floyd's once-a-year fight to fight guess who? another tune-up...

Listen I respect what you all are saying. But, Ortiz is the #3 WW in the world and a champion coming of an impressive victory a 24 years old. Besides Pacman this is the best fight to be made a WW. Nobody wants to see a Floyd vs Pacman fight more than me but he has the take the test like SSM and Ortiz is doing.

Its great floyd is fighting again, but fighting once every year in a half doesnt make him relevant, its more of a exhibition from a half retired part timer.

    Basic question:

Why does the p4p concept exist?

So Marquez was a tuneup for Floyd? Is he a tuneup fight for Pacquiao? And didn't Mayweather fight Mosley after Marquez? Was that a tuneup also?
