That every year, he will fight one fight as an alleged prelim to fighting you know who, and then he will retire again to come back after a year lay off to fight a prelim...

    Broken loop...

But hey he will make millions, and millions will hope against hope...

Disappointed with Mayweather to say the least...

If he's in it for the Money he'd be working to make the Pac fight. I try to stay unbiased but there's no excuses left for Mayweather.

floyd fight once a year just like the superbowl. he gets $40M for a tune-up with an easy fight. so why risk getting more in a pacquiao fight if he can get $40M guaranteed in a much easier fight?

If he were to fight Pacquiao, he won’t actually get that much more money than he would if he fought someone else. Against an Ortiz he can demand and recieve the lion's share of the takings. But against Pacquiao, he must split it 50-50 and not recieve the astronomical money we seem to think he would.

So, is it really worth risking it all – the unbeaten record, the legacy and the respect – just for a little bit more money? Nope, of course not. Which is why he’s giving us this repeated stunt of a ‘tune-up’ fight. Seriously guys, don’t be fooled into thinking Ortiz is a set-up for a Pac showdown.

I think Ortiz is a decent opponent.

I am surprised Floyd has even announced a fight, I don't think many people were expecting that.

But as it is, Ortiz proved a lot in a his last fight, maybe he don't have the skills to beat Floyd but he is certainly going to give a good fight.

Dude, a lot of people were expecting it.

    It's a **** fight, in my opinion.

Ortiz will be an easier nights work than JMM was.

It should be Pacquiao, or just retire.

floyd and his father doesn't agree with you. if they think pac is an easy pickings, floyd would have went straight to him and not for jmm.

It's my only beef with Mayweather, the inactivity. I appreciate what he is in the ring but the odd fight here and there doesn't cut it, I expect more.

In all honesty, I had stopped following Floyd or any of his antics so I wasn't actually expecting any fight to be announced from him.

But as I say, I know some people won't like it but I am interested, Floyd has been out of the ring for a long time and you never know, Ortiz could land something.

But I understand why some people hate this fight, and Floyd for that matter.
