This guy for me is UK's very own Marvin Hagler....he had no easy route to the title, had a **** promoter for his career, no TV deal.

Won the WBC title vs an unbeaten Jean Pascal who went on to be the linear Light Heavy champ.

defended his title on the road against elite opposition....i mean who in their 1st defence faces a former UD champ??? i have never seen any champ do that.

His stealy reserved determination and confidence reminds me of Hagler.

Tarver put it best " People forget Froch can fight on the Road...thats a DIFFERENT kind of Champion".

    A really inspirational fighter/character.

Calzaghe maybe "slightly" ahead in his All time British standing but FROCH has already Overtaken him in terms of gaining RESPECT....History will also in future regard him higher.

All froch did was beat a couple of American hype jobs.
Great fighter but no-where near in the same league as calzaghe.

I am not a fan of Joe or Froch fan but right now I say Froch is a much better fighter than JC was at his prime. JC did nadda in his prime except hide in Europe and in a very, very weak SMW division. Froch has proven himself against top notch oppostion. Besides Joe ducked Froch to fight the old man B-hop (who he lost to) and shadow of himself RJJ. In Joe defense, everybody deserves a Payday!

I like Froch, he's proven himself time after time and hasn't taken a day off. He's had a tough schedule and keeps on going. I have nothing but respect for the guy. So why do you have to bring up Calzaghe? As much as i like Froch (and hope he beats Ward) Calzaghe would box circles around him easily. He's in another league, a completely different fighter. Let Froch forge his own legacy, he (his fans) doesn't need to badmouth Calzaghe, its just makes him and his fans look bad...

Froch is arrogant and thinks too highly of himself and he is in for a humbling experience when he faces Ward.He is beyond cocky and it will be a hard fall from his self perceived status.

He definitely doesn't get the kind of recognition from the public and mainstream media like Calzaghe and Hatton did.

He should really have been better promoted. He was a good amateur and got some exposure on national TV when he won a bronze medal at the World Amateur Championships. I followed his early pro career and he was being hyped as a guy with potential. He then just completely dropped off most people's radar, unless they were hardcore fans. He fought nobodies and didn't always looked good doing it. When he started calling out Calzaghe nobody really cared.

So yeah he is underrated and unknown by casual boxing fans. The super six has helped him a lot in terms of recognition but he is still nowhere near as well known as Calzaghe was.

Froch is doing good but calzaghe would easily beat froch in a h2h, it wouldnt even be close. Calzaghe has FAR more talent than froch and was equally as determined. Froch is overachieving for his talent id say, its just grit that gets him through some of his fights. He just doesnt have the talents to do what ward and calzaghe did to kessler and could do to other fighters. Ward will probably give him a boxing lesson, thats if ward is actually as good as they say he is, he may end up being a hype job as well, who knows, its difficult to tell as hes had things his own way in the super six from day one

He has under-rated skills and I think he's gonna surprise Ward with some of his work, but yes you are right, what the **** does Froch do that would give, say, the Calzaghe who fought Kessler, any problems?

Exactly, froch does nothing that would cause calzaghe any major problems. Calzahge would be all over him like a rash. Froch would probably land one or two decent shots due to calzaghes open style. Froch may well only land one or two of those shots against ward and ward is much more safety first than calzaghe imo, ward may well do the usualy flurry then clinch, rinse and repeat, with froch following him around the ring and it will be called a masterclass LOL
