Because he's not bending to Mayweather's whims, as he was the original target of the false PED allegations. Remember, there is a defamation lawsuit going on over this. There is standard boxing testing that Pacquiao submits to after each fight, like all other boxers. Apparently, Pacquiao agreed to go above and beyond that testing in order to make the Mayweather fight. The only stipulation -- apparently based upon Pacquiao's concerns regarding his loss to Morales -- was a relatively short cut-off date. A cut-off date of around 14-21 days was apparently green-lighted by a Mayweather medical expert(s), and refused by Mayweather. Then the date was supposedly cut down to 7 days. Mayweather apparently agreed to neither. No fight.
u know damn well why manny refused. that is why floyd thinks he is suspect. the guy gave more excuses than why he wouldnt do it. take the test, its that simple. bernard wouldnt do it and he is more suspect than manny is because of his age, 46, and what he has accomplished
Everybody that's been following this saga knows that Pac has already said he would do whatever Floyd wants as far back as a week before his Margo fight. I don't know any fair minded person that still is buying the "take the test" argument. ...and I thought this OSDT was to make sure that Ortiz wouldn't cheat again as what Berto and Dirrell claimed. :think
If Floyd doesn't fight him, his legacy will be impacted badly, for sure. In fact, I think it'll be worse than many assume. Back in the day the internet as we know it didn't even exist -- I'd assume that newspapers would be the main source for boxing information. Now that we're in this digital age, people have been writing about this Floyd/Pac situation for years ( since 2008 ) and continue to do so every day. Floyd's ducking is immortalised in all the articles, forum threads, videos, etc. If this fight never happens I bet people will literally raise this issue nearly every single time Floyd is discussed in the future. It won't just be forgotten -- not a fight of this magnitude, which people have been talking about for so long. It'll go down as one of the biggest fights that never happened, and I honestly think more people will blame Floyd than Pac. It's a real shame, because Floyd is really talented and highly skilled. If he just stepped up to the plate he could have the respect he's always wanted -- it's literally WAITING for him to take it, but he doesn't want to risk it.
If pacman agreed to take the tests and PBF didnt take the fight then there would be an argument for floyd ducking.
I don't know how influential Haymon is to Floyd. 2nd negotiation, he represented Floyd in the negotiation and agreed to a contract only to have Floyd nixed the idea. Ellerbe seems to be the man to talk to.
My guess is that a large part of the Ortiz fight build-up will revolve around the OSDT issue, in order to try to score some public relations points for Mayweather as regards Pacquiao. Dirrell claimed Ortiz cheated? I missed that. I don't think that the "take the tests" argument is geared for the fair-minded person. I think it's more geared for those who want to like and believe Floyd. It's cover, in my opinion, to make one feel it is "ok" to believe Floyd really did not duck Pacquiao multiple times. Floyd doesn't seem to enjoy a very favorable position as regards the "who's fault" debate about Pacquiao-Floyd not happening. Thus, the dog-and-pony show of OSDT for the Mayweather-Ortiz bout probably seems to him an opportunity to try to improve his standing in the argument.
The people who believe this have something against Floyd. Any fan of any sport would agree more testing is better! So take the test Manny! How can anyone negaotiate with Manny when before he has stepped in the ring with Mosely his boss is negoatiating with Marquez? This is a decent fight, where were all these naysayers when Manny was fight Mosely after Floyd had spanked him and Mora had drew with him? Or when Manny was fighting Clottey? Or even hands of stone? People are just haters, yet they would sell their mother to be in his position.
