To me the biggest things are: level of performance in light of level of opposition; willingness to meet qualified opposition; longevity as a quality performer; versatility -- the extent to which the fighter might have been able to adapt to different conditions of competition and different kinds of competitors. I don't rate on resume per se, but resume is a consideration in all the areas I've specified.

[EDIT 6/9/11] I'll also add consistency, at least during the years the fighter is able to contend with quality oppositi0on.

i am loving this heee hee hee all the Lennox lovers are here in force ha ha ha.. Quarry exposed their agenda, telling the truth they did not want to hear of how Lennox was stripped of all his belts for refusing to fight the No1 contenders Ruiz, Byrd & Vitali. how Lennox got poleaxed by two mediocre fighters and no other Heavyweight great in boxing history had been leveled like Lennox got Leveled. how Tyson was completely shot when he fought Lennox, Danny Williams & Kevin McBride. How Lennox turned down career high paydays in 93,95, 96 & 03 to fight Bowe, Tyson & Vitali. how Lennox never fought a single championship opponent who was at the Top of their Game, and how Lennox ducked Holmes, Hide, Witherspoon, Foreman, Bowe, Tyson 96, Sanders, Ruiz, Byrd & Vital.. yes they are here in force to try to put the knife in but i am a sword fencer and enjoy the fight ha ha ha.. its like being back at school watching a bunch of 6yr olds ganging up on the new kid on his first day LOL

People can rank fighters any way they like. Their criteria is their own.
