Reasons why neither side wants the fight:

* Floyd does not want to lose his "0." That is his sacred jewel. Pacquiao may not beat him, but he could beat him. If Floyd loses that "0," especially to Pacquiao, his rep is toast. And so is his marketability as a fighter (which might not matter much soon, if he steps aside from the sport). He does not want a loss as part of his legacy

* Pacquiao is looking very far down the line at becoming President of the Philippines. After everything that has been said and done, you really think Pac or Arum want to give Floyd the chance to take Pac's crown as King Of The Sport? Or to hurt Pac's growing icon status? Not a chance. And, they don't want to reward Mayweather for the ruckus he caused with the false PED accusations. Like Mayweather, Pacquiao does not want to lose at this stage of his career; he wants to build his legend. And, he feels confident he does not need Mayweather as part of his legacy.

There is plenty of money to be made for both men in taking the safer route here. Not just in the short term, but over a lifetime.

 

Bottom line, to me?

Fight ain't happening.

 

That's not right: Pac didn't want any testing, but he budged on it. It's an important issue, especially if you feel that the only loss you have had in so many years was directly due to blood testing.

Neither man should dictate all the terms. If they actually want a fight. The testing issue is key, and so some agreement would have to be reached.

Pac wanted smaller gloves, Floyd agreed. Pac wanted a certain ring size, Floyd agreed. Most thought Floyd would have issues with 50/50 split at first, he agreed.

Pac agreed to 24 days out and when he couldn't get that HIS TEAM walked away from negotiations. And here we still don't have a fight, because Mayweather won't drop his request and give Pac all his demands like everyone else. :thumbsup

 

Floyd is not going to come off of a long lay off and jump in the ring with Pac, hell Pac wouldn't even do that for Floyd, so it's not insane for Floyd not doing so for Pac. He's taking on a opponent who is a champion of the class that he's in, which is the right thing to do from a business and boxing perspective. This fight with Ortiz makes more sense then Pac vs Marg and Pac vs Mosley. Now one can say that Floyd is avoiding Pac but how about Pac avoiding Floyd? Mosley has and Ortiz will take blood test. What's Pac problem? Isn't Pac refusing blood test the same as avoiding Floyd especially when other fighters or Floyd don't mine doing so themselves? What is Pac going to do, continue fighting aging opponents that shouldn't be in the ring with him? People can read what they want but it's better to use your common sense when the obvious presents it self. Which is either Pac has something to hide or he really don't want the fight with Mayweather.

 

Drug testing issue is central. If Pac wants to help out and go back on gloves and ring size to work that out, I support that.

Just cant see how the drug testing issue isn't mutually agreed on, though. It seemed to be the only sticking point going forward from like second negotiations, etc. So, it has to be worked out in some manner.

 

Tune-up fight makes sense.

It is the only sticking point. And I highly doubt Mayweather will change from no cutoff. It hurts his stance FAR more by dropping back his demands just to face Pac. I posted earlier, this site along with plenty other would crash with people bashing Mayweather for wasting everyone's time for years just to drop it. He will stick to his random blood testing without cutoff. Will Pac agree or not is the only real question here.

 

But, according to Floyd, Pacquiao is a one dimensional fighter and an easy money fight. Who would I believe, you or Floyd?

 

Agreed. Think both fighters are dug in. Doubt there will be a resolution, or a fight.
