I have to give the guy his dues for fighting Ortiz because it isn't an easy fight at all. You can check my recent post history if you don't believe me. It was begining to look like the Pacquiao fight was never going to happen and I personally thought he was mainly to blame. At least now he's making the right noises now. How can anyone think that Ortiz is a tomato can? I was one of the guys who gave Ortiz a chance against Berto because he is clearly talented and was very clearly weight drained at 140 as well. He is hungry and he's coming to fight. In the 6 or 7 years I've been a 'hardcore' fan I've never seen two fighters in the same division who were head and shoulders above everyone else p4p. You have to admire both for their ability if you really are a boxing fan. I'm not a huge fan of what I have seen of Mayweather outside of the ring but I do think he wants the fight because I think he's a real fighter.
I aint mad at his decision. i hope for the sake of all those who argue over Dodging & Drug tests that both Floyd & Pac both win & finally fight. Or else they will be doomed to arguing about it for the rest of their lives.
no complains for this fight and this would help floyd if ever he is going to fight pac next but this would be an easy one for floyd if you had watched their previous fights. ortiz is agreesive and fast but is somewhat wild and his punches are sometimes wide when he fought berto. if berto could puch ortiz on this fight, imagine what floyd could do based on his last fight with mosley. very fast, staright and accurate punches.
To be honest when you are either the number 1 or 2 p4p (Personal opinion) then surely everyone in your weight catergory is an easy match up. Even most fighters in higher weight catergories. This is what people cant seem to get. Assuming he wants face pac man, is this not a great tune up fight. Dont pretend like you think its wise to have a year layoff to face pac man, i dont care who you are, you would take at least 1 tune up first. Lets see what happens guys
I really think this is a tuneup, but there aren't all that many fights left for Floyd. He could take Martinez instead, but that fight is at least as dangerous as a Pac fight while the final payday won't be as big.
How can you guys say no complaints. The biggest fight in boxing isn't being made instead we're getting consolation prizes from both guys and they are still refusing the make the fight.
I'm his critic too . . . but that's because of all the excuses not to fight Pacquiao . . . specifically him being on vacation and doesn't want to negotiate. Now he is fighting, so good enough for me. No problem with his fight with Ortiz, that's a good fight . . . but I want to see a formal negotiation with Pacquiao after the fight where everything can be put into writing.
This is a great competitive fight for the fans and a good potential victory for Ortiz, as well as a decent tune-up and prelude to Pacquiao. Ortiz also gets to show what he's made of, even if he loses. Everybody wins.
So the excuses from Pac's side is fine with you? You do know that he has had more excuses than Floyd's side?
