That Zbik/Chavez Jr. fight was a farce

I'd rather watch Chavez than Berto. Chavez has balls and heart.

 

Chavez Jr is just a name that can bring some money to the table that has little talent put him up against the best and he we get KO for sure!!!

 

I can't remember exactly how I scored it but I had it a round or two for Zbik. The only thing Chavez did better than Zbik was he had more on his punches. The body attack was good and definitely took its tool on him. If Zbik had some pop on his punches tho he would have f*cked Chavez up. Hopefully Sergio rapes him and gets his title back...

 

Chavez looked totally inept. This fight reminded of when Sturm beat Dela Hoya and they still gave it to Dela Hoya. Under ordinary circumstances, Zbik would've won by a comfortable margin. Those body shots Chavez was throwning were way overrated otherwise I think Zbik would've showed some effect. Meantime Chavez's face was showing plenty effect from Zbik's 'weak' punches.

It sucks, but then again you can argue, integrity aside, that this outcome is better for the sport overall. Zbik didn't exactly earn the title all that legitimittly himself, nor was he going to go out and unify. He was just a protected German fighter waiting to be somebody's opponent and hand off that title, which is exactly what he did. And now Chavez can go and create some excitment by bringing in a big crowd for his execution with either Martinez or Rubio.

 

I had Chvez winning. His work was more effective

 

Chavez is garbage, his matchmaker has his work cut out for him. The man is slow, has no defense, no athletic ability and is just terrible.

 

To be honest, I posted that this was going to happen. I feel that Chavez was the aggressor and I disagree with you on overated body punches. Those shots were definitely hurting him. He was wincing here and there. I do have to say that Chavez defence is horrible, but I am sure Roach will work on that if Chavez is to fight someone with pop. I also believe he will be protected and will milk the belt. Now, rumor is that Chavez, Sr wants to take over as trainer. That will definitely be Chavez, Jr's demise. So I believe Chavez, Jr won by a small margin to gain the belt.

 

I was really hoping Chavez would develope into a solid fighter, but for all the work that's been put into this kid up to this point, I don't see promising results or even the potential for down the road.

The body shots may have hurt Zbik and slowed him down, but Zbik was still out landing and backing Chavez up at the end of the fight. I was really hoping he could've taken Zbik out but honestly Zbik looked like he could've kept going to 15 rounds. I had the impression that Zbik showed Chavez something he's not had to deal with a live fight and Chavez showed us his instincts on how to fight back. Some might say Chavez showed heart, but I think he might mentally give in when he starts getting hit like that by a legit top middle weight.

 

I didnt score the fight but i believed Zbik should have edged the fight.
A draw would have been acceptable being that Zbik looked like he would go down in a few of the rounds and was the only one hurt in the course of the fight.

Everyone knew Jr. would get the nod if he stood up. Too much money. The only thing that impressed me was Jr. chin and heart. Say all you want about Zbik being feather fisted. He hit Jr. at will with big shots and he took them well. Alot of them were in combination too.

 

I had Chavez winning that fight 115-113. His punches were more effective and causing more damage.

 

I dont think it was a farce but i had zbik winning at least 6 of those rounds. If you look at it zbik actually oulanded JR by at least 2 to 1 in 7 of the rounds and most of those shots were clean crisp shots as well. JR dug in well too but if that fight was in a neutral venue i think JR would have lost.

Its the same story we see again and again with the home fighter getting the benefit. If that fight was in germany zbik would have comfortably taken the decision. In america its also very difficult to get a decision against the hometown guy, as zbik says himself he needed to win the fight very clearly to keep his belt.

You dont often see a belt holder travelling and putting the belt on the line so probs to zbik for that one

 

it was a hard fight to score at the start zbik was landing those fast punches with a bit of pop and pushing chavez back by the end they just arm punches that werent doing anything i had chavez by 2 rounds i think because he landed the more effective punches. he hurt zbik a number of time later in the fight but i dont have any argument with zbik winning the fight on anyones score card - zbik might have been better loading up a little and instead of shoe shining and landing 6 pitter patter shots landing a good solid 1-2 more often to really push chavez back
