McCarthy recently beat a fella in a multi-nations tournament who had previously won 2 world senior bronze medals at heavyweight (I think he was French). That's why i would assume he's in there.
Matt some of those rankings seem to be a joke don't they. Can't understand how Joyce is so low down at 81kg. He wasn't completely overwhelmed by Ward in the seniors. And if it's about international results, shur he won a medal at the world cadets in 2008. Can't believe there's 5 english guys ranked above him in the same weight :huh The biggest mistake for me though is Burnetts ranking. He only lost to conlon by a point in the seniors. And again, even if international results are taken into account, I don't need to mention his achievements!
hear that moylette is having trouble with his hand wont be boxing in europeans leaves the 64kg spot up for grabs think murray should be in contention for that spot with phil looking to be out with his hand also
Jesus iv never heard of a team with so many hand injuries it seems there are always one or two of the high performance lads out with hand injuriers at any one time. You have to wonder is it a technique they are being shown or a certain training exercise that is doing it, I know hand injuries are common in the game but for the last 5 or 6 years we have seen a huge amount with this Irish squad and thats just our top senior lads. Would love to see Murray getting a nod always up for a fight always willing to put it on the line a real Irish fighter.
ye its a load of balls but mcdonagh can t really go ahead of the boys because of their international success but all credit to the lad he done business twice when he had too! i cant see joyce been third to egan/ward either tbh! ye evans being number 1 is a loada bollix! and con is clearly miles better than price, the matches in germany were merely test matches to get the boys warmed up for the europeans! where was conlon at 52kg? hes in gr8 form atm
I agree with you that his gold medal at the multinations warrants it. After all, he beat the twice world bronze medalist there. But to be fair his commonwealth silver was at a different weight so that shouldn't be taken into account in terms of heavyweight rankings yano? Also, with international success taken into account, do ya think burnett should be higher ranked in his weight category?
ah yeah burnetts a top class like, he just got a tough draw in the seniors for his 1st bout at 52kg, id have him 3rd probably, he just needs a bit of time to grow into the weight!looking forward to seen him in the box-offs he could win it also!
