Yes i read that too, from what i understood they were referring to how he liked to fence then jump on an opponent in retaliation if they hit him harder than they had been.

Defensively he was incredible in the Ramirez rematch, but offensively that wasn't a performance to match McGirt II or Haugen IMO.

Offensively, his punch output was very high.

I actually find it really hard to split all Pea`s best displays, personally.
McGirt II, Ramirez II, Chavez, Haugen, Nelson... they were all different from each other (which speaks volumes for the versatility of Pernell) but equally special when taking everything on board, quality of opposition, punch connect rate, rds won/lost etc.

Punch volume is not indicative of a great offensive performance. For me, Pea planted his feet and threw a variety of shots with mean intentions in the McGirt rematch. By comparison, Pea was flurrying on the back foot against Ramirez.

Yes, they are all sensational performances, but for me Haugen and McGirt II stand out.

Do you think it's fair to say Haugen/McGirt II was Pea's best offensive performance, and Ramirez II was his finest defensive one?

In his best fights, with no need for power against Puncher, he was flawless, winning nearly every round without much effort. Against top opposition. He second bout against Ramirez comes to mind
