    because fighter A is very very skilled coming off a long layoff and would be favored to beat every fighter from 154 and below

    I don't particularly like PBF, but I don't see how you can say this is a bad fight for him. He's WAY more dangerous than Baldomir was. If Mosley can land his right against PBF then you can be sure Ortiz will land at least a couple of his power shots. But PBF has skills to avoid getting hurt too badly on those occasions and should win a decision or late TKO. I'm rooting for Ortiz. Manny punches harder than Ortiz (I'm not saying Ortiz is a light puncher but Manny is a freak of nature; ask Mosley) so PBF needs to avoid getting hit flush at all in that eventual fight.

    16 month lay off comes back to fight number 2 WW victor ortiz who was able to not only beat undefeated berto, but look pretty damn good doing it.

    Dude, I consider this a bad alternative to the Pacquiao fight. Ortiz is a guy who:

    • Struggled to a draw against Lamont Peterson two fights ago.
    • Has only a life-and-death win against an overrated Berto to help his case.
    • Is young, naive, inexperienced and too defensively disadvantaged to even have a hope against Floyd.
    The above makes him an easy opponent for Floyd who, despite what many are duped into thinknig, isn't effected by inactivity like most others are. So forgive me for not being overly happy with this fight, especially when a Pacquiao one is right there to be made instead.

    Come on people, just because its not Manny it doesn't make it a **** fight!

    Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see why this is such a bad fight!

    I mean, after he did what he did to Berto, he got a lot of credit and respect but now that he is an opponent for Floyd he is a nobody again?

    You'll find out why, when after Floyd beats Ortiz in a non-competitive set of 12 rounds and fails to make a Pacquiao fight again, you'll be here venting your frustration along with the rest of us.

    He's STILL a nobody. One good win (and it was) over a fighter who HIMSELF was widely scorned for being a badly protected fighter doesn't all of a sudden erase how he looked in previous fights.

    MY take is, it's NOT that terrible a fight. But don't try to sell this as some top fight when it's more a tune up with a young, inexperienced and flawed fighter.

    He's still the best Welterweight around, bar Pacquiao, so in that sense, even if the fight is a tune up, it's the best one available for Floyd.
