Rumor has it Gamboa had to move up in weight over in Cuba because Rigondeaux had his number.

Everything that piece you quotes is true: but his mother had just died, legal battles were potentially ruining his career, and there was no certainty about his future despite having giving up everything---I dunno if that moment weakness illustrates Rigondeaux at exactly full strength...

Keep in mind, Freddie Roach said after working with Rigo only a couple weeks he was the most talented fighter he'd ever seen in his life.

Rumour? :yep I though it was pretty much common knowledge that bantamweight belonged to Rigondeaux. And Gamboa did jump from flyweight to featherweight without stopping at bantam. (IIRC he had losses to Rigo as well but I can't find their amateur records anymore. How I'd like to see those matches.)

Having said that, I think Gamboa must be considered the favourite atm.

Easy win for Rigo by KO. Gamboa has a terrible defense.

With Rigo's accuracy, punching power, defense and footwork, one shot could easily stop Gamboa. That being said, Gamboa might have faster hands. I haven't seen hand speed like Gamboa had in Atlantic City for a long time. On the other hand, I've NEVER seen foot speed and balance like Rigo has even today. It's a pretty fascinating match up.

I don't think much is easy when it comes to facing Gamboa.

Look how often Rigo gets hit and look how often Gamboa gets hit. You're blinded by Gamboa's flashiness. Rigo's fundamentals are far more developed than Gamboa. Rigondeaux is a far better all round boxer.

Rigondeaux fights like every punch will give him AIDS. Gamboa is better suited to the pros and has more experience, right now he destroys him.

Rigondeux is going to become the next Mark Breland, or maybe David Reid.

I don't think he is suited to the pro style, too long in the ams. All the talent in the world won't make you a tough to the death fighter, right Zab?

Yet look how often Gamboa hits opponents and how often Rigo does. It's not Yuri with an SD in his record...

Boxing is hit and not get hit. Rigo is doing the not get hit part pretty good, bad well behind in 'hit' compared to Gamboa. You need both.
