Rigondeaux is a very talented guy who seems to really lack killer instinct when he is facing someone with experience. That safety first style is not a guaranteed win when its not married to good fighting instincts: Floyd HAS them. I'm not sure about Rigondeaux, Floyd would have destroyed a b level guy like Cordoba even in his 7th fight, as he destroyed Genaro Hernandez, probably an A- level champion, very very early in his career.

It's a problem when a) judges don't appretiace your pure boxing skills like the Cordoba one, most judges actually score for output in close situations, b) it's a HUGE problem if you get booed and major TV pulls the support like HBO did. Mayweather not only took the fight to his opponents in exciting early years, but he also had the mouth and charisma to get the attention. Rigo doesn't even speak English nor have Gamboa's TV friendly style, so how do you figure him reaching at least Yuri's popularity or success?

I'm a fan of Rigo and admire his style too, but there's a reason he's without a TV date therefore a fight. It's because he's a fundamentally better boxer than Gamboa who take few chances and that's not what prizefighting audience want. Let's see if he can use those skills to pull a Mayweather-Corrales where the defensive genious actually uses his superb skill edge to beat the crap out of the opponent.

Today gamboa takes Rigo either way-Dec or KO
Rigo more talented but hasnt been exposed enough
Gamboa has beaten the kind of Salido,Solis,Mtagwa,Barros.

    do you actually follow boxing

rigeondeaux is probably the best amateur of all time and wins a world title in 7 fights .

    behave.

the only fight he lacked killer instinct in was cordoba and that was understandable becuase of what was at stake. in his last fight he destroyed the EU champ in a round in his backyard.

There's no need for this match up imo , not now anyway , every Cuban knows that Rigo is the most complete boxer of the two , Rigo has it all : defence , speed , punch and stamina coupled with a boxing brain few fighters have in the game right now , somebody said that Rigo may end up as the next David Reid and I desagree , Rigo is very dedicated to his craft , even when he was having all those personal problems and uncertainity about his future he remained focused and trained every day , he is a boxer that knows how to look after his body when he is off the gym , he doesn't drink or smoke and is always training . Idk but I think that instead of the next Reid we may well be looking at the next B.Hopkings . Peace .

The moment Gamboa lands on Rigo and Rigo felt those hard punches, Rigo will be on his bicycle throughout the fight.

I believe that even though Rigondeaux is one of the best amateurs of all times, Gamboa is better suited for the pros. Not only is Gamboa way more exciting than Rigo but also way faster, powerful and way more aggressive. Now, Rigondeaux is a masterful boxer with an incredible ring IQ, finess, defence and unique counterpunching ability. Rigondeaux had everyone's number in the amateur and not just Gamboa but Gamboa has developed way better in the pros and fought the much better opposition. ;)

I think that if Rigo faces Gamboa at 126 pounds Rigo himself will be amazed at seeing how fast and powerful Gamboa has become. Plus, we still need to see how will Rigo look at 126 pounds. This is a very difficult fight for both of them as Gamboa can TKO Rigo at anytime but Rigo can also TKO Gamboa at anytime with those wicked body shots of his. Either way, I wouldn't want to see our two best boxers in the pros go at it. :nono

Gamboa has been more tested and has been in tougher fights than Rigo.
Rigo has only 11 pro fights that's why he hasn't been tested yet and his chin is questionable.
